顾名思义，战略脱胎于战争。而战略最早可溯源至春秋时期的《孙子兵法》，其至今仍是美国西点军校教材内容之一。进入近现代，德国军事理论家和军事历史学家克劳塞维茨，是近代军事战略学的奠基人，其著作《战争论》更被誉为西方战争理论的根基。
