Author Description

彼得·F．德鲁克，管理学科的开创者，被尊为“大师中的大师”、“现代管理学之父”，他称自己是“社会生态学家”。他的思想被传播到了130多个国家，对社会学和经济学的影响颇为深远，其著作架起了从工业时代到知识时代的桥梁。1909年德鲁克生于维也纳的一个书香门第，1931年获得法兰克福大学国际法博士学位，1937年移居美国，一生以教书、著书和咨询为业。2005年11月11日，德鲁克在加州克莱蒙特的家中溘然长逝，享年95岁。他著述颇丰，包括《管理的实践》、《卓有成效的管理者》、《管理：任务、责?和实践》、《旁观者》等几十部著作，以30余种文字出版，总销售量超过600万册。他还曾7次获得“麦肯锡奖”，2002年6月，获得当年的“总统自由勋章”，这是美国公民所能获得的最高荣誉。20世纪80年代，德鲁克的思想被引入中国，2004年，德鲁克管理学全面进入中国的管理教育领域。

美国人的精神全部都体现在了政治方面。有一位被这个国家神圣化的人物，他的名字对于大多数美国人而言就是“理想生活”的标志，他的一生全都致力于让人们不断提升自己的境界，他就是亚伯拉罕·林肯。
从一开始，美国民众对自己的所处社会的基本认识就来自于一个政治承诺：“每个美国小男孩都有?等的机会成为美国总统。”你只要将这个口号稍微变一下，例如“每个小男孩都有平等的机会成为首相”，就可以知道为什么这个是美国独有的了。这并非因为机会均等的承诺会被滥用，而是只有在这个国家的政治领域中才会实现。
美利坚民族本身就是由众多极具多样性的民族传统所构成的，一位新移民不会被强迫去信仰某个宗教，不会接受某种统一的风俗习惯或是一种新的文化，甚至不会要求他必须会英语，对他们唯一的要求就是拥有共同的政治信仰。一位移民要想成为美国公民，就必须宣誓接受那些抽象的政治原则?并承诺捍卫“共和体制的政府”。

我们必须上溯到奥古斯都时代的罗马，了解当时的“拉丁公民权”这个概念，这样才能找到一个与当今美国一样只有从政治制度角度才能全面认识的社会。但是，所谓“拉丁公民权”只是一个不切实际的想法，永远都没有实现，而美国的政治意义却是真切实在的：有理想化的伟人，有承诺，也有强有力的融合、同化。从政治角度认识美国，就成了解美国本身及其历史与意义的关键所在。
