Content Description

沈清在刚出世后不久就失去了母亲，稍微长大一点就靠着为人家做些活计艰难地维持着生活。后来，为了能让盲父兑现布施的承诺，重见光明，她将自己典给航海船家换了三百石粮食献给了寺庙，而自己却跳入大海做了祭品。后来因为上天的护佑，沈清在龙宫生活了一段时间又重返人间，并成为母仪天下的皇后，而父亲沈瞎子也终于重见光明。

沈老爹闻讯进京去赴会
此时，沈瞎子正带着病德娘四处漂泊流浪。忽一日听说要在京城里大摆盲人盲人宴，便对病德娘说道： “人活一世怎么也该到京城去见识一下吧？可是路途遥远，我一个人没法去，还是你陪我一起去怎么样？”
病德娘这次答应得倒很爽快，于是沈瞎子便让病德娘在前引着路，当天便赶往京城。
这一天，沈瞎子和病德娘要在一家客栈里过夜。碰巧那个村里也有个瞎子姓黄，遇到病德娘便起了歹心，于是便与那客栈主人串通起来编瞎话行骗。那黄瞎子虽说是个瞎子，但仔细说来，却是个还能看见些东西的半瞎子，家境也还算比较宽裕。尽管病德娘表面上假装不乐意，可内心里早已对黄瞎子动了心。她暗自思忖： “跟那看不见的老东西到京城去对我有什么好处？我又不是瞎子，到了京城也不能参加盲人宴。如今这老东西的境况已是每况愈下，以后的日子也没有着落，倒不如跟着黄瞎子走了，后半辈子也算有了依靠。”
这样想着病德娘便与黄瞎子发了铁誓，单等沈瞎子睡熟后瞧准机会和他一起逃走。
这天夜里，病德娘故意早早躺下，等着沈瞎子进入梦乡。好不容易听到沈瞎子打起呼噜，连忙悄悄地起了身，连一句话都没有留下，便逃之天天了。
再说到了半夜，沈瞎子一觉醒来，发觉旁边病德娘的位子是空的，一个骨碌坐了起来，伸出手四处摸索着：
“喂，病德娘，你在吗？”
没有人回答，只有老鼠在客房一角的辣椒筐里稀里哗啦地窜来窜去。沈瞎子以为那是病德娘在跟自己开玩笑，于是张开两只胳膊，说道：
“你是让我爬过去吗？”
说着他慢慢地摸索着爬了过去，一手伸到辣椒筐里，吓得老鼠呼地一下跑了出来。
“哈哈，你又往那边去了。”
沈瞎子以为病德娘一直在跟他开玩笑捉迷藏，于是这个角落摸摸，那个角落找找，直到老鼠逃到屋外，屋里静悄悄的没了动静，这才明白病德娘早就不在屋里了。于是他走到屋外，向主人问道：“劳驾，掌柜的，我们家老太婆到里面去了吗？”
“没有啊。”主人冷冷地说道。
直到这时，沈瞎子才知道病德娘逃走了，顿时天塌地陷一般，他长长地叹了一口气，说道：
“病德娘！你扔下我去哪里了？你这个无情无义的狠心婆娘，千里迢迢的赴京路我一个瞎眼人可怎么走啊？”
沈瞎子越想越冤，越想越气，哭了一会儿又改了心思，像是在骂人一样呼呼地挥着手说：
“由她去吧，我要是再想这个婆娘就不得好死。都怪我和这样无情义的女人白白夫妻一场，把家当都丢光了，这能懒谁呀……反正是已经发生的事，泼出去的水了，还想它干什么？我那宽厚的郭氏也走了，我那天下无双的孝顺女儿清儿也跳海了，这个我都挺过来了，还怕这婆娘吗？”
沈瞎子就这么自己宽慰着自己，等到天一放亮便离开了那里。此时正是一年中最热的三伏天，因此没走多远便汗如雨下，后背都湿透了。
“哎哟，好热啊，听着流水的声音嘈杂，想必这里就是河边了。还是痛痛快快地先洗个澡再赶路吧。”
