《翻译工作坊（汉译英）》作者不揣浅陋，对近几年本人从社会上所承接的翻译材料进行搜集和整理，并结合本人所承担的翻译专业硕士和翻译学硕士研究生的“翻译工作坊”课程的教学实际，编写了这本题为《翻译工作坊（汉译英）》的教材（我们同时也在努力着，使该教材的姊妹篇《翻译工作坊（英译汉）》在不久的将来也能面世）。教材中绝大多数材料均为作者亲笔翻译，一小部分为他人的译文但经过了《翻译工作坊（汉译英）》作者的修改和润色，有几篇是从网络上或实际生活中所收集到的非常实用的材料，还有一篇完全出自他人的译笔。

Book Abstract

第二，教师应该既是实践者，又是研究者。所谓研究者是指，教师应该深谙翻译理论，善于从翻译的实际操作中总结和归纳出翻译的理念。并将其进行理论提升，最终能够给学生讲清为何如此翻译的道理。与此同时，作为教师本人，还要有一套自己惯常认可和使用的翻译理念。教师的翻译理念将会对学生未来的翻译观产生重要影响。
第三，从事翻译工作坊教学的教师要具备较为深厚的某一相关学科领域或某几个相关学科领域的理论知识，如功能语言学、心理语言学、社会语言学、社会符号学、语用学、认知语言学、文艺学、哲学、跨文化交际学等。有了这些学科领域的知识，就可以以这种学科理论的视角来观照翻译，让授课教师能够站在高屋建瓴的理论层面审视翻译过程。因为毕竟“从认知角度来看，翻译要求具有能用语言学和广博的知识解释及重述文本意义的才能”（黄建滨、卢静，2008：60.61）。
第四，从事翻译工作坊教学的教师要具备行业经验。这是因为，翻译工作坊教学培养的是专业化或职业化、应用型翻译人才。如果缺乏行业经验，教师就不可能了解翻译市场需求以及翻译市场的运作机制，从而也就不可能了解职业译员的职业特点。闭门造车、呆在象牙塔中的教师，最终是难以培养出职业化翻译人才的。可以说，从事翻译工作坊教学的教师本身也应该是专业或职业翻译人才。
第五，从事翻译工作坊教学的教师须具备创新性、合作式、海纳百川式以及人J陛化的教学方法和理念。具体体现在，在教授这一课程时，积极创造和谐友好的氛围，促进学生积极参与小组练习和讨论，促进合作式学习，激励同学之间的互动，促进社会建构主义教学方法的实施，即强调学习者自主性以及知识和意义构建的社会维度，以便最终提高学生的翻译表现和对最终译文的满意度（szczyrbak，2008：70）。

翻译的历史源远流长。《圣经》上说，人类最初没有语言隔阂。于是，人类群策群力建造一座城。为了和上帝齐名，他们又决定在城里合力建造一座“通天”的高塔。此事激怒了上帝，于是上帝离散了人类的亲属，变乱了他们的语言，使“通天塔”最终也未能建成。从此，人类便分处而居，天各一方，久而久之便有了语言交流的障碍。但自此，人类便开始向上帝发出挑战，他们依托翻译来进行不同语言、不同文化之间的交流。这就是传说中翻译的由来。翻译活动及人们对翻译理论的思考已有近三千年的历史。从公元前3世纪西方的七十二子将旧约《圣经》翻译成希腊文，到公元两百年左右中国将《佛经》翻译成中文，两千多年来，人们就是凭借翻译使得整个世界的文化变得更加丰富多彩。从西塞罗的“意义对意义的翻译”到玄奘的“既须求真又须喻俗的翻译”，无数个世纪以来，从事翻译的人们无时无刻不在对翻译进行着深入的思考。正是这种对翻译“充满着智慧”、“闪耀着灵感”的思考，让人类渐渐对翻译这种“宇宙进化史上到目前为止所出现的最为复杂的活动”（I.A.里查兹语）有了越来越深刻的认识，也使得翻译研究在各国翻译界之间的交流中不断得到发展，臻于成熟。
