豪尔赫·路易斯·博尔赫斯（JorgeLusiBorges，1899—1986），阿根廷诗人、小说家、评论家、翻译家，西班牙语文学大师。

一八九九年八月二十四日出生于布宜诺斯艾利斯，少年时随家人旅居欧洲。

一九二三年出版第一部诗集《布宜诺斯艾利斯激情》。

一九二五年出版第一部随笔集《探讨集》，一九三五年出版第一部短篇小说集《恶棍列传》，逐步奠定在阿根廷文坛的地位。代表诗集《圣马丁札记》、《老虎的金黄》，小说集《小径分岔的花园》、《阿莱夫》，随笔集《永恒史》、《探讨别集》等更为其赢得国际声誉。译有王尔德、吴尔夫、福克纳等作家作品。曾任阿根廷国家图书馆馆长、布宜诺斯艾利斯大学文学教授，获得阿根廷国家文学奖、福门托国际出版奖、耶路撒冷奖、巴尔赞奖、奇诺·德尔杜卡奖、塞万提斯奖等多个文学大奖。

一九八六年六月十四日病逝于瑞士日内瓦。

译者王永年，著名翻译家，浙江定海人，毕业于上海圣约翰大学，精通英文、俄文、西班牙文、意大利文等多种语言，曾任中学俄语教师、外国文学编辑，一九五九年起担任新华社西班牙语译审，曾派驻墨西哥等西语系国家，他的西班牙语文学译著有巴勃罗·聂鲁达的诗和散文、加西亚、马尔克斯《迷宫中的将军》等，还译有《耶路撒冷的解放》、《十日谈》、《欧?亨利小说全集》、《伊甸之东》、《在路上》等多部名作。

到了加拉伊街，女仆请我稍候。那个大孩子如往常一样，在地下室冲印相片。无用的钢琴上那个空花瓶旁边，贝雅特丽齐的色彩刺眼的大照片在微笑（与其说是时代错乱，不如说是不受时间限制）。谁也见不到我们；我一时感情迸发，走近照片对她说：

“贝雅特丽齐，贝雅特丽齐? 埃莱娜，贝雅特丽齐?埃莱娜?维特波，亲爱的贝雅特丽齐，永远失去了的贝雅特丽齐，是我呀，是博尔赫斯。”

过了不久，卡洛斯来了。他说话的口气很冷漠，我理解他一心只想着失去阿莱夫的事。

这个集子里除了《埃玛·宗兹》和《武士和女俘的故事》以外，都属于幻想小说类型。前者的梗概是塞西莉亚·因赫涅罗斯提供给我的，我写作时字斟句酌，唯恐损害如此精彩的情节；后者试图演绎两件可靠的事实。第一篇花了很大功夫，主题涉及永生给人类带来的后果。那篇阐述永生者的伦理观的故事后面是《釜底游鱼》：小说里的阿塞韦多·班德拉是里韦拉或者塞罗·拉尔戈之类犷悍的汉子，是切斯特顿笔下无与伦比的森迪的混血儿翻版。（《罗马帝国衰亡史》第二十九章叙说了一个遭遇和奥塔洛拉相似的人物，但情节更悲惨、更匪夷所思。）《神学家》写的是一个有关个人特征的凄楚的梦，《塔德奥·伊西多罗·克鲁斯小传》是
