一百年前的宁城，紧邻布拉格，啤酒厂任管事的父亲和热情美丽的母亲过着宁静的田园生活，贝宾大伯的出现，给小城带来了热闹，也带来了麻烦……
这部小说完稿于一九七〇年，此时“布拉格之春”遭到扼杀，赫拉巴尔被作家协会除名，作品遭到封禁，直到一九七六年出版，一九八零年由闵采尔改名《金黄色的回忆》搬上银幕。这部作品既不是一部家史，也不是准确含义上的回忆录，而是以母亲讲述啤酒厂日常生活的方式写就的。部分地掺入了一些作家自己的传记材料，部分地以轻微的玄秘笔调唤起人们对久远时期的回忆。

Author Description

捷克作家博胡米尔·赫拉巴尔（Bohumil Hrabal，1914~1997），这位法学博士为自己设计的一生是这样的：大学毕业后服兵役，做推销员、仓库管理员、炼钢工、废纸回收站打包工、舞台布景工……四十九岁时第一部作品才得以出版，而此后获得国内、国际奖项有三十多个。他的作品多数被改编为话剧和电影。与小说《严密监视的列车》同名的电影于1966年获奥斯卡最佳外语片奖。根据另一部小说《售屋广告：我已不愿居住的房子》改编的电影《失翼灵雀》获1990年柏林影展最佳影片金熊奖。1997年2月3日，这位原本即将病愈出院的作家从医院五楼窗口坠落身亡。
赫拉巴尔的作品大多描写普通、平凡、默默无闻、被抛弃在“时代垃圾堆上的人”。他对这些底层人物寄予同情与爱怜，并且融入他们的生活，发现他们心灵深处的美。他的小说是最具捷克味的作品。
