新特点
基础题在每章例题之后都安排了基础题。通过这些题，可以培养学生对一些基本概念的简单应用能力，使学生掌握处理简单问题的基本技巧，为后续求解一般问题打下良好基础。由于附录已经给出这些问题的全部计算结果和部分解题过程，因此也可将这些题作为延伸性例题。另外，从考试角度，基础题为学生提供了一种非常高效的学习方式。同时，在理论力学考试准备前期，可以通过这些练习复习基础知识。
内容修订本版对书中每一部分内容都进行了仔细核查。为更好地解释概念，对许多章节的材料进行了重新编写。为更加突出一些重要概念的应用，增加和更换了部分例题。
概念题每章结尾处通常安排一些概念题，它们与该章中的力学原理的应用相关。安排这些分析和设计型问题的目的，是引导学生通过照片所描述的实际生活场景进行思考。在学生做过一些相关类型的练习后，可将概念题留为作业或练习。
