我不会哭，即便发生了悲伤的事情，也流不出眼泪。
姐弟三人中，我是老大，总是把撒娇的机会让给弟弟们，哪怕自己很想向母亲撒娇。
因为我是姐姐。不用父母开口说，我就明白这一点，一直注意让自己的行为符合姐姐的身份。哭泣是弟弟们的权利。
如果我哭了，就没有人安慰弟弟们，所以我从不哭泣。
四年前的夏天，母亲自杀了。我火速从公寓赶回家，还是没能见上母亲最后一面。我冷静地安慰着哭个不停的家人，心里却想，太傻了。
父亲整个人都陷入颓废，只好由我代替父亲担任丧主，操持葬礼。
盛夏的晴空下，我茫然地看着从火葬场升起的白烟，只是嘟囔了一句：“真热啊。”
只要还活着，每天都会遭到一连串意想不到的袭击。遭受一次打击，我的心就会变硬一点。除了“变硬”，我再也找不到更合适的词语形容这个过程：我的心越来越硬，几乎无法跳动了。

我在任何情况下都不轻易流泪，无论怎么看，都算不上一个可爱的女人。

我的恋爱总是以对方说出这句话结束。
因为有好几次都是这样失恋的，我反而喜欢上这句话了。我出于信任敞开的心扉，还有发自内心的真诚话语，都因为没有人接受和倾听漂浮在空中，最终消失得无影无踪。因为信任借给对方的钱也没了踪影。
结束第五次恋爱的那一天，我走在回家的路上，路过一家动物医院时，看到那里贴着一张纸，写着：“求领养小狗，法国斗牛犬，性格温顺老实，几乎不叫。”
旁边还贴着一张图片，上面的小狗怎么看都谈不上可爱，这就是所谓的“丑八怪狗”吧。我径直走过去。
一点都不可爱的狗，老实巴交的狗。不可爱的女人和丑八怪小狗的组合。
不会哭的女人和不会叫的狗，听起来似乎很般配。这么一想，我忍不住笑了。
一周过去了，两周过去了，那张纸仍然贴在那里。不知从何时起，我经过那家动物医院时，开始默默祈祷，希望那张纸还在。
再过两天，如果那张纸还在，我就把丑八怪领回家。我下定决心。
丑八怪小狗和不可爱的女人的恋爱。
与其骗别人，不如被人骗。我决定被这只“丑八怪”骗一回。
事实证明，我的担心是多余的。丑八怪很顺利地来到了我身边。
一直被我叫成“丑八怪”也怪可怜的，我开始认真地给它想名字。
左思右想，决定叫它“空知”，因为这个名字叫起来很好听，有“知道天空”的意思，给人一种清爽的感觉，还不错。还有“知道空虚”的意思，知道了空虚，剩下的就是等待圆满了。
空知一开始还有点警惕，不过渐渐地卸去了心防，冲我露出肚皮，这个姿势意味着它很开心。
而且，的确像那张纸写的那样，空知很老实，不怎么叫。
外出散步时，空知一定会叼着一只球出去。
一到公园，它就把球丢到我的脚边，催促我和它玩扔球游戏。它前腿贴着地面，撅起屁股，轻轻摇着尾巴。这个姿势的意思是“陪我玩耍吧”。
我投了几次才知道，由于自己的姿势不对，力量不够大，投出去的球飞不了多远就落地了。
空知站在那里等啊等，等了好久也玩不成它期待的投球游戏。它只好愕然地看着我，没精打采地跑去捡球。它的背影甚至弥漫着一丝哀愁。
想必它满心期待，球却根本飞不起来。
要是我的话，肯定早早地就不再期待了。
空知，你为什么一直这么信任我？你为什么会相信我一定可以投出很远很远的球？
不能总是辜负空知的期待啊，我下定决心，认真学习投球技巧。
每天一大早，我开始在运动公园的大停车场上练习投球。当然，我已经提前做了一番研究，找出自己从来不看的职业棒球比赛，一边看一边把投手的姿势记在脑子里。
原以为投球很简单，只要练习就能掌握技巧，没想到对我来说难度很大。练习越多身体越僵硬，总也投不远。不知是不是球出手的时机把握得不好，投出去的球有时会弹回脚边，甚至打在脸上。
空知一脸“我想捡球”的表情，眼巴巴地看着我。
“再等等，空知。用不了多久我就能投得远远的了，到时候你可以捡个痛快。”
我摸着空知的脑袋对它说。空知躺在地上，翻出肚皮对着我，开心得不得了。
也许是每天勤于练习的结果，我已经能把球抛到很远的地方。现在只要我做出投球的姿势，空知就迫不及待地跑出去。
投出去的球越过空知的头顶，远远地落在前方。它衔起球，再摇着尾巴一路跑回来。没错，这才是我和空知想要的投球游戏。
有时候我和空知互相追逐嬉戏。我拿着球，装作要逃跑的样子开始奔跑，空知就追上来。看着身后的空知又蹦又跳地一路追赶，我开心地笑啊笑。
一旦被空知追上，我就在柏油马路上横躺下来，四仰八叉地摆出一个大字，稍微休息一会儿。这时空知会跑上来舔我的脸，仿佛在催促我快些起来陪它玩。
没过多久，真正的冬天降临了。东北地区的早上，呼出的气都能在瞬间冻成冰雾。
天气实在太寒冷，我减少了玩投球游戏的次数，延长了追逐嬉戏的时间。
被空知追着跑倒也不赖。空知从没有让我失望，一直在我身后追啊追。每当它追上来扑到我身上，眼睛总是迸发出异样的光彩，而我咯咯咯地笑个不停。于是我和空知不停地追着跑着，就连躺在冰冷的柏油路上也觉得特别舒服。
那天，我和空知像往常一样在开心地你追我赶。跑着跑着，忽然发觉空知没有追上来，却听见似乎有什么东西从远处跑过来了。回过头一看，是一只大型犬，发了疯似的冲着我和空知狂奔而来。
转眼间，大狗已经咬住了空知的脖子，左右甩了几下脑袋。那架势就像捕获到猎物的狮子。空知发出了一声短暂的悲鸣。
大狗的下一个目标，就是手里攥着球的我。
空知突然站起来，来到我面前，朝着大狗露出了犬齿。
这时，那只大狗的主人拿着项圈和狗绳，急急忙忙地跑过来。大狗又咬住了空知的后腿。大狗的主人连忙用狗绳将大狗拴起来，想控制住它。然而，想制服已经进入战斗状态的大狗谈何容易，即便是它熟悉的主人也很难做到。
空知的身体已经被鲜血染红了。
遭受这意外的打击，我整个人仿佛变成了石头，完全动弹不得。
那些平时从没留意过的晨跑的人，帮我把空知送到了动物医院。
这个打击让我的一切—我的头脑、我的心，都一片空白。
到了动物医院，医生对空知进行抢救。大狗的主人一直在向我鞠躬道歉，可我什么也说不出来。
医生过来问：“哪位是狗的主人？”
我抬起头，看着医生。
“您真是冷静，一般的狗主人遇上这种事故都会方寸大乱。”
医生一边说一边向我微微点头，示意我跟他进抢救室。
刚走进抢救室，就看见空知浑身缠着绷带，躺在病床上。它看起来没有想象中那么痛苦，甚至可以说非常镇定。
我看着默不作声的空知，小声问医生：
“它好像一点都不疼，真的没事吗？”
“不，其实它脖子上的伤口特别深。我们已经尽了最大的努力，不过现在还很难说……看上去好像没什么事，可是狗一旦感到疼痛，就不爱动弹了，一直到伤口复原之前都很老实。疼痛消失之前，它们一般会蹲着，或是一动不动，什么事都不干。”
听了医生这番话，我不禁大吃一惊。然而内心已经僵硬如石头的我，仍旧流不出一滴眼泪。
从第二天开始，我每天早晚都去医院看望空知。
看着一动不动的空知，我一遍遍抚摸着它的后背，心里想象着它承受的疼痛。
第五天夜里，医院来电话了，让我立刻过去。
“能不能活下来，就看今天晚上了。”
医生在电话里就说了这一句。
我迎着严冬深夜的寒风，发疯似的蹬着自行车往医院飞奔。
我的心，我的手，已经冷得像冰一样。
到了医院，我抚摸着躺在病床上的空知，把额头贴在它的脸上。
“对不起，空知。让你受苦了。投球游戏也玩不了了。和你一起玩的时候真的好开心。对不起，空知……”
在一旁沉默不语的医生开口了。

旁边的护士慢慢地抚摸着我的后背。
我感受着那双温暖的手一遍又一遍地滑过后背，喉咙似乎被什么东西堵住了，不一会儿，眼泪流了出来。我哭了。

空知浑身上下插满了管子，那天，我陪了它一整夜。
护士时不时来看一下空知的情况，每次都说“情况很稳定”，然后又回到里间的屋子。
漫漫长夜里，我开始回忆和空知在一起的时光。
我们一起玩投球的样子，喂食时空知期待的表情，冲我露出肚皮开心玩耍的姿势……所有的一切都那么开心。这些幸福的场景一幕幕浮现在脑海中，我又哭了。
天终于亮了。当天空微微发亮时，空知睁开了眼晴。
