高山晟（Akira Takayama），1932—1996年，曾任日本京都大学经济学教授以及位于卡本代尔的南伊利诺伊大学的Vandeveer经济学教授。1962年获美国罗彻斯特大学的Ph．D，1964年获日本东京一桥大学的经济学博士学位。已发表的论文涉及宏观经济学、微观经济学、国际贸易和金融学等领域。代表作除本书外，还有《国际贸易一种理论方法》（International Trade：An Approach to the Theory，1972）和《经济学中的分析方法》（Analytical Methods in Economics，1993）。

Book Abstract

实际上，在任意一个集合上，除了上述两个拓扑，还可以定义许多其他种类的拓扑。也即，存在很多方式，可以将任意一个集合转换成一个拓扑空间。记号（X，r）中的符号r表示拓扑空间X上指定的拓扑。
在度量空间中，我们经常将以开球定义的开集的集合看做其上的一个拓扑，并称为度量空间的通常拓扑或由度量导出的拓扑。尽管有很多方式可以将度量空间转变成拓扑空间，但是除非有特别声明，我们一般将通常拓扑作为度量空间上的拓扑。
注意任意一个拓扑空间不一定是度量空间，尽管每一个度量空间通过由度量导出的拓扑可以构成一个拓扑空间。同时注意任意一个拓扑空间也不一定是{一个线性空间，尽管每一个赋范线性空间通过由范数导出的拓扑也可以构成一个拓扑空间。

Introduction

在本书第一版中，我给自己提出的任务是为数理经济学提供一种系统的处理。这一学科强调的是经济学理论的统一性结构和包含在现代经济学理论中的数学方法。我希望经济学领域的学生能够认识到经济学分析方法的重要性并且熟悉基本的并且是强大的数学工具（然而，只具备最少的预备知识的学生也可以掌握）。经济学是诗和精确逻辑（或分析）的结合体，也是由事实构成的广阔知识。虽然这些都是重要的，但是正如我在第一版开篇所说的，“本书选择讨论分析性的以及数学的方法”。
