Author Description

仇保兴，作为城市科学的实践者，作者先后担任过浙江省乐清市、金华市和杭州市党政主要负责人，在此期间还兼任过金华开发区管委会主任、金华理工学院院长、杭州大学城总指挥等职。现任国家住房与城乡建设部副部长，分管城乡规划、城市基础设施建设、建筑节能与科技、自然与文化遗产保护、水污染防治与村镇建设等方面的工作，曾获高级规划师、浙江省优秀党务工作者、（IWA）国际水协会主席杰出贡献奖等职称与奖项。
作为研究者，作者毕业于杭州大学物理系（现浙江大学）后留校任教；并先后就读于复旦大学经济学院，获经济学博士学位；就读于同济大学建筑与城市规划学院，获工学博士学位；并在哈佛大学肯尼迪政府学院作为访问学者专题研究城乡可持续发展。现兼任中国城市科学研究会理事长、国际水协（IWA）中国委员会主席，并在中国社会科学院、浙江大学、复旦大学、同济大学、南京大学、中国人民大学、浙江工业大学、南京经贸大学等院校担任博士生导师、客座教授或兼职教授。至今为止已出版著作10多部，发表几百篇学术文章。

对于城镇化这一课题，虽然已经过众多学者系统、长期、深入的研究分析，涌现了无数学术成果，但仍还有许多具体的问题没有得到有效解决。本章力求不泛泛地谈，而是在前人研究基础上的进一步延续，承前启后，从务实的角度来分析我国在城镇化进程中必须面对哪些主要问题？国际上就其是同属发展中国家的拉美和非洲等地有什么经验、教训？应采取什么样的对策？为什么前殖民地国家较集中的拉美和非洲在推进城市化的过程中遭遇到一系列无法应对的困难，而东亚各国却能独善其身？中国转向A模式在其发源地的美国以及仿效者的教训中获得什么启示来应对本身面临的挑战？这些问题在本章中都可以找到答案。
