（二）宋代本草代表作
书名《经史证类备急本草》（后世简称《证类本草》）。
作者唐慎微。
成书年代公元1082年。
载药数目1558种（1500余种），较前增加476种。
主要内容及学术价值
在《嘉祐本草》、《图经本草》的基础上撰成。
各药之后附列大量方剂（附方3000余首）以相印证，医药紧密结合。方例是药物功能的直接例证，每味药物附有图谱。这种方药兼收、图文并重的编写体例，较前代本草又有所进步。
保存了民间用药的丰富经验。．
每药还附以制法，为后世提供了药物炮炙资料。
广泛引证历代文献，保存了《开宝本草》、《日华子本草》、《嘉祐本草》等佚书内容。本书不仅切合实际，而且在集前人著作大成方面作了极大贡献，为后世
保存了大量宋代以前方药的宝贵文献，使我国大型骨干本草编写格局臻于完备，起了承前启后、继往开来的作用。
《经史证类备急本草》沿用五百多年，从《大观本草》、《政和本草》，以及《绍兴本草》，直到金元时期（公元1302年）出版的《经史证类大全本草》等，都是在《经史证类备急本草》的基础上，稍加修订补充而成的官修本草著作。这些著作，历代不断地复刻重刊，直到明代《本草纲目〉〉问世后，才逐渐地代替了它。作为本草学范本的《经史证类备急本草》，不仅完成了当时的历史使命，并为《本草纲目》的诞生奠定了基础。直到现代，它仍然是我们研究中药必备的重要参考书目之一。
（三）宋代国家药局的设立
国家药局的设立，是北宋的一大创举，也是我国乃至世界药学史上的重大事件。1076年，在京城开封开设由国家经营的熟药所，其后又发展为修合药所（后改名为“医药和剂局”）及出卖药所（后改名为“惠民局”）。药局的出现促进了药材检验、成药生产的发展，带动了中药炮制、制剂技术的提高，并制定了制剂规范，《太平惠民和剂局方》即是这方面的重要文献。
此外，“秋石”是从人尿中提取的性激素制剂，它的制备方法最早见于《苏沈良方》。《宝庆本草折衷》则有“猪胆合为牛黄”的记载。而宋代用升华法制取龙脑、樟脑，蒸馏法制酒等，皆反映出这一时期中药制剂所取得的成就。
