我毕业后做住院医师时遇见的第一个病人是风湿热患者，问完病史，作好体检，回到办公室却开不出一个完整的医嘱来，因为我只知道风湿病要用阿司匹林，但医嘱总不能只开一个药啊！后来，在上级医师的指导下，我又开出了胃黏膜保护药等辅助药物及必要的检查项目。可见一个医学生要将学到的知识付之实践，开出正确的治病救人的医嘱还须不断磨炼。医师犹如战场上的指挥官，要在正确判断的基础上做出果断的决策（开医嘱），并在实践中不断修订，直至取得胜利（疾病痊愈）。从此不难看出医嘱在医疗过程中的重要性，它既是对疾病斗争的命令，也是衡量医术水平的标杆，更是上级医师查房的重要环节。
开好医嘱首先要对疾病做出正确诊断，对药物性能要完全理解，对各种检查的临床意义要十分熟悉，因而对一个从学校毕业不久的低年资医师来说并非易事。蒋小玲、王雯教授结合其二十几年的临床经验，针对低年资医师这方面经验的不足编写了《内科医嘱速查手册》。我十分荣幸有机会先行阅读，认为本书不失为一部十分有益的工具书。首先，它涵盖了内科临床上的常见疾病；其次，抛开了一般手册对疾病的详细描述，而直截了当地讲述如何开医嘱，把基本诊疗方案和护理方案列入长期医嘱，辅助检查和特殊处理列入临时医嘱；最后，给众多的低年资住院医师带来便利，只要知道是什么病，参考本书就能迅速、正确开出合理的医嘱。
为规范疾病的诊疗流程，卫生部正在逐步制定各个疾病的《临床路径标准住院流程》，并要求2010年在全国100个医院试行，《临床路径标准住院流程》就是要规范疾病的诊断和治疗标准，其中规范医嘱是此流程的重要组成部分，本书的出版，无疑对执行卫生部的《临床路径标准住院流程》有很大的帮助。
当然，因为疾病发生、发展是千变万化的，本书中对各种疾病治疗医嘱所罗列的药物、检查项目，在治疗中必须个体化，根据病情进行选择。随着对疾病认识的深化和新药的不断涌现，应不断修订本书，以适应医学迅速发展的需要，力求使本书成为医学科技图书中的精品。
