Book Abstract

用户能更多地了解计算机程序背后的理论固然是好事，但典型的工程师往往没有时间去深究正在用着的、或将来会用到的所有解法。然而，借助一个好的说明文件去了解程序所包含技术的基本规定，通常总是可能的。例如，矩量法程序需要将表示局部电流幅度的导线模型离散至足够小，使之准确地再现电流分布的形状；高频渐近技术如一致性绕射理论，需要足够大的电尺寸，使之适合于推导绕射系数时采用的大距离近似。因此，即使用户并不完全理解某程序的应用为何存在着限制，但仍能够懂得其物理模型必须设置在这种界限之内，才能维持解的准确性。
通常，用户在建立或分析计算机程序中的模型时，有两种情况会引起建模的不确定性。第一种情况是与物理模型相关联的，用户应明白计算机模型与真实模型应当匹配到什么程度。要为真实天线上的每个螺丝和铆钉都严格建模往往是不可能、也不必要的。如果某物体的尺寸小于波长量级，其效应也是很小的。此外，波瓣图由电流分布的积分得到，它对电流的少量变化是相对不敏感的。然而，馈电点的电压- 电流关系随几何上的小改变而发生的变化，足以改变该模型的阻抗。需要根据情况恰当地选择建模技术，或是在建模过程中确定仔细的程度。第二种情况与数学模型相关联，可被特征化为方程误差和解的误差。方程误差是由于数值结果不能严格地满足建模方程（例如，计算机有限数位的舍人误差）而造成，并随着问题的电尺寸增大的积累效应而增加。解的误差的造成原因是数值技术采用了有限个未知量，或采用了有限个镜像和（或）彼此相互作用的绕射线。
用户保证所得结果准确而贴切的最重要途径是通过验证。验证虽然耗费时间，但却是一种极其基本的方法。验证可以采取内部和外部两种形式。内部检查由自洽性测试（如MoM解随加密几何离散化的收敛性、功率守恒性、是否满足边界条件等）组成。此外，用户还应该了解，频带和（或）增益是否对物体尺寸的波长数敏感，波瓣图峰点和零点的个数是否与尺寸相对应，峰值与旁瓣的比值是否对频率敏感？参阅附录A中的数据和关系式。用户可先用尽可能简单的方法开始解题，可利用本书中的各种插图，使结果易懂并可用以比较。随后建立较复杂的问题、直至其更复杂的最终形式，每一步都按此方法检查。即使某一步的检查未获通过，该步骤仍有价值，因为它提供了发现问题出处的机会，并使用户增长了经验与洞察力。
