廖清奎主编的《儿科症状鉴别诊断学(第3版)(精)》全书共分15章，涵盖儿科学各系统疾病的诊断、鉴别诊断、临床用药等，以“症状”为中心，简述每个症状的病因、发病机制和治疗原则，重点呈现临床思维过程，详细阐述诊断和鉴别诊断。
本书保持了第1版(1988年)、第2版(2005年)的风格和优势，增强了实用性、逻辑性、科学性和系统性，在前两版的基础上进行了修订，并增加了新生儿症状章节。特别是运用循证医学、精准医学、转化医学、整合医学等新的理念，对近年儿科学领域发展较快的分子生物学技术、血液净化技术、影像学诊断技术、干细胞移植术、输血医学、抗生素应用等新理论、新观点进行了重点描述和介绍。
本书除可作为儿科医师的临床工具书外，也适宜社区全科医师及医学生在临床工作中应用。
Author Description

廖清奎，男，1935年生于四川省大英县(原蓬溪县)；1960年大学毕业，1967年研究生毕业，赴美国华盛顿大学等进修和学术交流多次。1985年被评为博士生导师，是四川省首批学术带头人；兼任中华医学会、中国营养学会、中国优生科学协会、中国输血协会和中国抗癌协会常务理事、主任委员、副主任委员等多项职务及多种杂志的主编、副主编、编委。

长期从事铁代谢相关领域的基础与临床研究，获得了一批重要研究成果：首先，在缺铁性贫血、母婴铁代谢的基础与临床研究方面，以铁缺乏症(ID)流行病学调查证明我国小儿食物中铁含量低和食物搭配不合理(影响铁吸收)是ID的*主要病因并提出了ID群体防治方案，为降低我国小儿ID发病作出了突出贡献。并且对人体和动物模型进行了系列生化、病理、酶学等研究后证明：ID不仅能导致贫血，还使人体智能、免疫功能、消化吸收功能、肌肉运动能力等下降，严重危害了儿童的健康。第二，提出了母婴铁转运过程的“有限无私”新理论，阐明了孕母向胎儿供铁的调节过程，当孕母铁状况处于正常和轻度缺铁性贫血之间时，可保证供给胎儿足够的铁，但当孕妇严重缺铁(中重度缺铁性贫血)时，其通过胎盘转铁蛋白受体、铁蛋白受体向胎儿供铁的能力将显著下降，从而影响胎儿铁代谢。该理论已被广泛接受并写入教科书，对围产期孕妇预防性补铁提供了理论依据，对降低孕妇、胎儿、婴儿缺铁患病率，提高人口素质有积极意义。第三，组织全国儿科血液学工作者，反复多次地制订和修改白血病、淋巴瘤等多种疾病的诊断治疗方案，使这些疾病在全国范围内临床缓解率、治愈率得到明显提高。此外，通过临床输血研究提出了“输血观念”转变的重要性和紧迫性，并进行了广泛的宣传，为输血医学的发展作出了贡献。

从事儿科工作50余年来，先后主编《儿科症状鉴别诊断学》、《临床儿科学》、《小儿营养与营养性疾病》等参考书9部，参编《儿科学》、《铁代谢基础与临床》等教科书、参考书20余部，在《中华儿科杂志》、CellMolBiol等杂志发表论文300余篇，获国家自然科学基金等科研课题20余项，获国家、部省级等科技进步奖20多项。已培养博士后、博士、硕士研究生60余名。2015年获中华医学会儿科学分会颁发的《中国儿科医师奖——终身成就奖》。
