供应链内感应库存的射频识别标签已经成千上万，据估计，射频识别标签销售量将从2011年的1 200万个增长到2021年的2 090亿个。供应链在不断结合不同系统中的数据，以协调整条供应链的运作。市场销售通过零售店产生大量销售点数据，这些数据在零售商与供应商之间实现共享，以实现对存货的实时监控。射频识别标签既跟踪货架上与运送中的货物，又监控库存量，以保证订货补给。通过计算机辅助设计、计算机辅助工程、计算机辅助生产、协同产品开发管理与数字化生产等方式增加数据，并将这些数据跨组织区域地连接到点对点的供应链中。

若企业能够从其他资源中整合数据，则能够获取更多的价值。这些数据可能来自零售商，但又不局限于销售数据，可能是促销数据，例如，商品名、价格与折扣；可能是商品投入市场数据，例如，某些特定的商品以及增加或减少其产量的计划；也可能是库存数据，例如，每个仓库的存货量、每个商店的销售量。这些数据对于在供应链内将需求商品成功运送起着至关重要的作用。
