电影的蒙太奇的思想力量在于把两个镜头接在一起，能使观众在两组信息之间进行多种多样的对比、联想和概括。例如，在1929年拍摄的影片《圣彼得堡的末日》里，普多夫金把一个表现俄国士兵们在战场上死去的镜头和一个表现股票交易所黑板上股票价格飞涨的镜头交叉剪接在一起，结果是使观众获得一种概念：资本家利用战争来牟取暴利。这种结论是通过连接两个独特的现象暗示出来的，并且是那两个镜头中的任何一个也无法单独暗示出来的意义。所以，匈牙利电影理论家巴拉兹说：“单独的镜头就像是某种含义的充电，当它与另一镜头相接时，就像一个电火花那样释放出来了”。

这就是蒙太奇的巨大思想作用。正因为这样，蒙太奇绝不是纯技术性的剪辑。蒙太奇是电影美学的基石。电影艺术特有的形象思维是蒙太奇思维。

1．3．3蒙太奇的分类与表现形式

按照表现形式，可以将蒙太奇大致分为平行式蒙太奇、对比式蒙太奇、交叉式蒙太奇、复现式蒙太奇、积累式蒙太奇、叫板式蒙太奇、联想式蒙太奇、隐喻式蒙太奇、错觉式蒙太奇、扩大与集中式蒙太奇和叙述与倒叙述式蒙太奇等，需要根据表现的需要进行选择使用。

1．平行式蒙太奇

这是一种很古老的蒙太奇表现形式。在影片故事发展过程中，通过两件或3件内容性质上相同，而在表现形式上不尽相同的事，同时异地并列进行，而又互相呼应、联系，起着彼此促进、互相刺激的作用，这种方式就是平行式蒙太奇。

2．对比式蒙太奇

富与穷、强与弱、文明与粗暴、伟大与渺小、进步与落后等的对比，在影片中是常见的。这也是一种很古老的蒙太奇的形式，早在19世纪，电影的先驱者就用这样的对比表现贫富的悬殊与对立。

3．交叉式蒙太奇

这种剪辑方法，是把同一时间在不同空间发生的两种动作交叉剪接，构成紧张的气氛和强烈的节奏感，造成惊险的戏剧效果。

4．复现式蒙太奇

从内容到性质完全一致的镜头画面反复出现，叫做复现式蒙太奇。这种蒙太奇总是在剧情发展的关键时刻出现，意在加强影片主题思想或表现不同历史时期的转折。但反复出现的镜头，必须在关键人物的动作线上，只有这样，才能够突出主题，感染观众。这种构成方法，就是复现式蒙太奇。

5．积累式蒙太奇

这种剪辑方法，是把性质相同而主体形象相异的画面，按照动作和造型特征的不同，用不同的长度剪接成一组具有紧张气氛和强烈节奏感的蒙太奇片段。

6．叫板式蒙太奇

这种结构方法在故事影片中能承上启下、上下呼应，而且节奏明快，如同京剧中的叫板。

7．联想式蒙太奇

把内容截然不同的一些镜头画面连续地组接起来，造成一种意义，使人们去推测这个意义的本质。这种剪辑方法即联想式蒙太奇。

8．隐喻式蒙太奇

按照剧情的发展和情节的需要，利用景物镜头来直接说明影片主题和人物思想活动。这种构成方法就是隐喻式蒙太奇。

9．错觉式蒙太奇

这种构成方法，首先是故意使观众猜想到情节的必然发展，但是在关键时刻，忽然来一个180。转弯，下边接上的竟不是人们预料中的镜头。

10．扩大与集中式蒙太奇

从特写逐渐扩大到远景，使观众从细部看到整体，造成一种特定的气氛，这就是扩大式蒙太奇；再由远景逐渐进到细部特写，这就是集中式蒙太奇。

11．叙述与倒叙述式蒙太奇

这种表现方式用于叙述过去经历的事件和未来的想象。例如影片中的叠印、回忆、幻想、梦境、想象等所出现过去与未来景象的画面。
