Author Description

屠格涅夫（1818—1883），俄国小说家，散文家。生于俄罗斯奥廖尔省一个贵族家庭。先后入莫斯科大学、彼得堡大学读书。留学德国，长期侨居法国，一生反对农奴制。著作丰富，长篇小说有《罗亭》、《贵族之家》、《前夜》、《父与子》等，中篇有《阿霞》、《初恋》等，散文集有《猎人笔记》、《文学与生活回忆录》、《散文诗集》等。他是俄罗斯语言大师，对俄罗斯语言规范化作出了重要贡献。

丰子恺（1898－1975），浙江崇德（今桐乡）人。我国现代画家、散文家、艺术教育家和翻译家，是一位卓有成就的文艺大师。丰子恺是我国新文化运动的启蒙者之一，早在二十年代他就出版了《艺术概论》《音乐入门》《西洋名画巡礼》《丰子恺文集》等著作。他一生出版的著作达一百八十多部。

霍里和卡利内奇凡是从博尔霍夫县来到日兹德拉县的人，对于奥廖尔省人和卡卢加省人的素质的显著差异，大概都会惊讶的。奥廖尔的农人身材不高，背有点儿驼，神情阴郁，蹙着眉头看人，住在白杨木造的破旧的棚屋里，服着劳役，他们不做买卖，吃得很差，穿的是树皮鞋；卡卢加的代役租农民就不然，他们住的是松木造的宽敞的农舍，身材高大，眼神大胆而愉快，脸色白净；他们贩卖黄油和焦油，每逢节日总穿长统靴。奥廖尔的村庄（我们说的是奥廖尔省的东部）大都位在耕地的中央，不知怎样变成了污泥池的峡谷的旁边。
除了随时准备效劳的几株爆竹柳和两三株瘦白桦树之外，一俄里周围连小树也看不见一棵；屋子紧靠着屋子；屋顶上盖着腐烂的麦秆……卡卢加的村庄就不然，大部分周围都是树林；屋子的位置较为疏朗而整齐，屋顶上盖着木板；大门紧闭，后院的篱笆并不散乱，也不向外倾倒，不会招呼过路的猪进来做客……在猎人看来，卡卢加省也较好。在奥廖尔省，再过五年光景，最后一批树林和大片的灌木丛林势将消失，沼地也将绝迹；卡卢加省就同它相反，禁林绵延数百俄里，沼地有数十俄里，珍贵的松鸡尚未绝迹，温良的大鹬还可看到，忙碌的沙鸡突然飞起，使得猎人和狗又欢喜，又吃惊。
