Author Description

苏童，1965年1月出生于苏州市。1984年毕业于北京师范大学中文系，现为江苏省作家协会专业作家。1985年开始小说创作，出版有《苏童文集》等。主要作品有《1934年的逃亡》、《妻妄成群》《我的帝王生涯》、《武则天》、《米》、《蛇为什么会飞》等。

我偷偷地去过后面的冷宫。我想看看黛娘被割去十指的手是什么样子。冷宫确实阴冷逼人，庭院四处结满了青苔和蛛网。我从木窗中窥见了昏睡的黛娘，她睡在一堆干草之上，旁边有一只破朽的便桶，那股弥漫于冷宫的酸臭味就是从便桶中散发的。我看见黛娘翻了个身，这样她的一只手就面向我了，它无力地垂放在草堆上，垂放在一缕穿窗而过的阳光里晾晒。我看见那只手形如黑饼，上面溃烂的血痂招来了一群苍蝇，苍蝇无所顾忌地栖息在黛娘的残手上。
我看不见黛娘的脸。宫中妇人如云，我不知道谁是黛娘。有人告诉我，黛娘就是那个善弹琵琶的妃子。我想不管她是谁，一旦被割除十指就无法再弹琵琶了。在往后的欢庆佳节中，不知是否还会有美貌的妇人在花园里怀抱琵琶，拨弄珠玑撞玉的仙境般的音乐？我不怀疑黛娘曾经买通宫厨，她在我胞兄端冼的甜羹里下了砒霜。但我对割除十指的方法心存疑窦。我曾询问过母亲孟夫人，孟夫人沉吟了片刻回答道，我恨她的手。这个回答不能使我满意，我又去问过师傅觉空，觉空说，这很简单，因为黛娘的手能在琵琶弦上弹奏美妙的音乐，而孟夫人不会弹琵琶。
到我登位为止，梧桐树林里的冷宫大约幽禁了十一位被废黜的嫔妃。入夜时分从冷宫飘来的啼哭声萦绕在我的耳边，我对此厌烦透顶，却无法制止冷宫的夜半哭声，那是些脾性古怪置生死于度外的妇人，白天蒙头大睡，到深夜就精神矍铄，以凄厉哀婉的哭声摇撼我沉睡的大燮宫。我对此真的厌烦透顶，我不能让宫役们用棉花团塞住那些妇人的嘴巴，冷宫是禁止随意进出的。
