Author Description

宋宜昌，1948年出生，山东莒县人，中国著名科普作家、军事专家，当代军事文学作家。1978年开始发表作品，中国作协会员。20世纪80年代，宋宜昌以多部海战史及二战军史小说闻名全国。主要作品有《燃烧的岛群》、《沙漠之狐隆美尔》、《北方的孤独女王》、《北极光下的幽灵》等，此外还有两本科幻小说《V的贬值》、《祸匣打开之后》。近年来，宋宜昌又以军事时政、军事历史评论及相关著作影响甚广。撰写了多部极具思想价值的军事著作，包括《武士道精神的发源》、《决战海洋——帝国是怎样炼成的》、《辉煌帝国的军事视角——解读富勒（西洋世界军事史）》、《聚焦——宋宜昌评说印度洋》等。他还是一位视野开阔、知识丰富的科技和历史观察家，著有军事科普读物《火与剑的海洋》、《大洋角逐》等。2009年，宋宜昌等著的《驶向深蓝——新中国舰船工业腾飞纪实》获中宣部第十一届精神文明建设“五个一工程”优秀作品奖。

一华道夫饭店中的陌生人
1940年4月的一天，纽约下着霏霏细雨。从大西洋方向飘来的团团水雾，一路掠过长岛和长岛海峡，降落在哈得孙河和东河的交汇处。那里的一片摩天巨厦，都浸没在低垂的云帐中。东北风相当冷，迫使布鲁克林区和曼哈顿区不少行人都竖起呢大衣的高领。
华道夫饭店典雅的餐桌旁边，坐着一个中年人。他的英格兰花呢外套裁剪合体，衬衫洁白，皮鞋锃亮。他身高6英尺，举止潇洒，一头淡黄色的头发，显出十足的绅士派头。侍者端上来他点的马提尼鸡尾酒和干酪烧小牛肉后，他就自斟自饮地喝开了。
两杯酒下肚，正当他往小牛肉上撒胡椒粉时，桌子对面来了一个人。他对北欧绅士模样的人微鞠一躬后问：
“先生，能在这里坐下吗？”
绅士抬起头来，感到有些不解。华道夫饭店是个上流人士常来的大酒家，本来人就不多，时逢凄风冷雨，顾客更寥寥可数，为什么他一定要凑这个热闹呢？但出于客气，他还是说：
“请吧。”
来人身材不高，衣着式样很旧，皱皱巴巴，而且有不少灰尘，鞋上也沾着泥，看来是经过长途跋涉的。他要了一份罗姆酒和红肠炒蛋后，急促的呼吸渐渐平稳了下来。
旅行者拿起酒杯，端详了一会儿金发绅士，突然开口说：“如果我没有认错，您就是瑞典气象学家巴斯比先生吧！请允许我为了您的健康干杯。”
绅士吃了一惊，仔细打量着对面那个素不相识的人。他的栗色卷发和他的蹩脚英语一样，使他的来历和目的难以猜测。终于，巴斯比先生答道：“我就是。请问先生尊姓大名，您找我有什么事吗？”
栗发男子脸上堆起了笑意，他用不太流利的英语开始讲述：
“我叫迪尔?克劳斯，丹麦人。也许??可以说是格陵兰人。您知道，前不久希特勒德国的军队占领了我们的国家。丹麦老国王克里斯蒂安十世和首相施道宁在纳粹武装部队的淫威下，为了国民生命和财产，投降了。”克劳斯先生说到这里，声音沉重起来，并且摘下了他的旧毡帽。
“我知道了，哥伦比亚广播公司和全国广播公司4月9日广播了这条消息。我对纳粹统治下您那些同胞的悲惨命运表示同情。我曾经到过埃斯堡、欧登塞和哥本哈根，对那里人民勤奋、乐天、文明高尚的品德印象很深。”气象学家的友好口吻，使陌生人相见时的不快气氛大为缓和。
“您也去过格陵兰吗？”丹麦人用他闪闪发亮的褐色眼睛看着巴斯比先生的蓝眼睛。
“去过。高纬度的北地岛、斯瓦尔巴德群岛[1]和格陵兰我都去过。遗憾的是，只在戈特霍布和费尔维尔角待了几天，我对你们那里的了解大概只是在天气图上。”瑞典人笑笑，把自己酒瓶里的酒倒入克劳斯先生的空酒杯，示意他随便喝、随便谈。
“丹麦本土投降绝不意味着格陵兰的投降，我们准备进行抵抗。希特勒没有一支占领格陵兰的海军舰队。雷德尔元帅的舰队已经在挪威战役中覆没了。‘布吕歇尔’号巡洋舰被奥斯陆峡湾的海岸鱼雷击沉；‘吕佐夫’号巡洋舰被挪威炮台击伤，两天后又被英国潜艇‘金枪鱼’号击中；‘卡尔斯鲁厄’号在卡特加特海峡被鱼雷击沉;‘埃姆登’号、‘布雷姆斯’号、‘哥尼斯堡’号、‘布鲁默尔’号不是受重伤就是沉没了；‘希佩尔’号巡洋舰被皇家海军的‘萤火虫’号驱逐舰撞毁；可怕的‘沙恩霍斯特’号和‘格奈森诺’号战列巡洋舰虽然消灭了英国的‘光荣’号航空母舰，自己也挨了鱼雷。20艘德国驱逐舰有一半被消灭在挪威的峡湾中。战争刚刚开始，德国海军就不值一提了。难道他们还想在英国本土舰队的虎口下，去远征几千海里外的那块没有价值的土地吗？何况中间还隔着冰岛！”克劳斯先生对海军倒是如数家珍，他知识渊博，远非他的外表那样平凡。
“您在海军干过吧？”
“在加拿大海岸警卫队干过见习军官，我的那艘船是‘巴芬湾’号。一艘很不错的海岸炮舰。”
“听我说，克劳斯先生，”巴斯比又叫了牛肉卷、热巧克力和三明治，还有威士忌酒。因为拿不准克劳斯的胃口，索性各式各样都要了一些。
“您说格陵兰岛要投入抵抗运动？啊，精神可嘉！可是，这是您个人的意见呢，还是??”
“我是格陵兰总督埃斯科?布留恩的私人代表，总督托我问候您和您太太。我的看法代表了全体格陵兰人。”
“那么，我能为你们做些什么事呢？”
克劳斯先生一字一顿地说：“我们要打一场气象战争。”他眼睛里放射出无所畏惧的复仇的火焰，仿佛是一头被激怒的狮子。
瑞典学者用眼神示意他不要再讲下去了。学者把话题扯开去，谈到纽约流行的摇滚音乐、华盛顿广场上的晚会，最后像对老朋友似的说：“您是头一回来这里吧，我带你到处遛遛怎样？”说完付了饭钱，把克劳斯先生拉入他那辆崭新的凯迪拉克轿车。
黑色的小汽车从宾夕法尼亚车站拐到哈得孙河东岸的高速公路上，然后直下曼哈顿岛南端的巴特利公园。当经过雄伟的布鲁克林悬索桥时，巴斯比先生指着远方烟雨苍茫中的自由神像意味深长地说：“保卫这个女神是要付出代价的呀！”
车驶过东河后，穿行在格林公园苍翠欲滴的松树林中。瑞典学者说：“您认为德国海军没有力量在格陵兰岛登陆吗？”
“是的。在没有击败皇家海军之前，希特勒在海上什么也干不成。”
“那么，他不会派几艘潜艇来干这件事吗？”
“不可能，邓尼茨将军指挥的潜艇部队力量很弱，在挪威又损失了约10艘潜艇。他们只会找护航力量薄弱的商船下手，单靠潜艇来补给一支远离德国3000海里的远征军，即使疯子也不会干。”
