Author Description

刘儒，中国作协会员。山西省凤翔县人，曾任河北省张家口市委常委、宣传部长，市人大常委会副主任，1983年开始创作，1994年加入中国作协，出版的主要作品有：长篇小说《人大主任》《幸福何时来敲门》《命运》《美人祸福》《官托》《艾小朵奋斗记》《情与罪》《几个青年公务员的故事》《乖狗和菊花》《明眸》；中篇探案小说集《神探》；短篇小说集《大潮仕相》；报告文学集《古塞风流》等。

侯谨，女，北京市通州区人，1967年北京政法学院（今中国政法大学）毕业后，一直在河北省张家口地市从事公安工作，曾任科长、纪检委副书记等职。

第一章塔尖聚会
火车已经进入北京市区，很快就要到北京火车站了，列车的播音室里开始介绍首都北京悠久的人文历史和新中国成立后的巨大变化，不少旅客也开始整理自己的行李物品，车厢里随之有了一种活跃、轻松和愉快的气氛。
因中途大雨，冲坏了铁路，我不得不在郑州住了两天，之后改线绕到甘肃、内蒙古，来到了北京，比预计两天的行程整整多了三天。学校报到的最后期限是八月三十日，我乘坐的这趟列车进入北京的时候，已经是九月二日的黄昏了。虽说是因为特殊的原因迟到，学校不会责怪我，但在耽搁的这几天里，我因路途不顺一直焦灼不安。现在，我向往已久的伟大首都，终于就要到了，我情不自禁地从座位上站起来，心在胸间剧烈地跳动。
播音喇叭里不断传出女播音员清脆、悦耳和自豪的声音。
“我们伟大的首都北京，在经历了百年沧桑之后，终于迎来丫胜利的曙光，新中国成立到现在，伟大首都发生了翻天覆地的变化……我们这趟列车将要到达的北京火车站，就是新中国成立十周年大庆的十大建筑之一。”
我看见车上的人都在注意听着广播里对首都的介绍和颂扬，大家的脸上都有几分自豪和激动，我自然更是如此。
一九六三年，我们凤翔中学考到北京的只有两个人，一个是我，一个是何天玺。何天玺是麟游县的人，等于凤翔县考到北京的仅我一个。那天到学校去拿录取通知书的时候，教导处主任马老师对我们几个考上大学的同学说：“恭喜你们！从小学能够一直上到大学去的，没有多少人。到大学，就是到了金字塔的塔尖了。刘儒与何天玺考到了北京，那更是塔尖的塔尖呀。希望你们到大学后，奋发努力，成为国家的栋梁之才。”
我是怀着成才报国的壮志，离开陕西老家，踏上赴京求学之路的。
在别人整理行李物品的时候，我没有动手，因为我的行李很简单，只有一个不大的铺盖卷，里边是一床旧被褥，离家的前一天经反复折叠，捆了又捆，很结实，不过几斤重，下车时一拎便行了。
我站起后，着意整理了一下自己的衣服。当时我穿的衣裳全是母亲亲手纺织制作的。上身是一件蓝条白布衫，是母亲在我离家前连熬了几个通宵赶制出来的。一般的布衫钉五颗纽扣，母亲给我的这件布衫钉了七颗纽扣，而且每个扣母和扣球都做得相当精致，穿在身上显得雅致了不少。裤子虽是旧裤子，但母亲用染料染了一下，黑蓝黑蓝的，像新的一样。脚上的布底圆口鞋也是母亲赶做的一双新鞋。由于车上很热，我早把布衫的几颗纽扣解开了。这时，我将解开的纽扣一颗颗扣好，抻了抻衣服上的褶纹，特别注意看了看胸前的校徽是否戴得合适。
校徽是学校寄录取通知书时一并寄给我的。离开家，在去往宝鸡火车站的路上，我就把校徽戴上了。后来怕人看了说我显摆，到宝鸡后便摘了下来。直到这趟火车快进北京市区的时候，我才到卫生间里悄悄地把它又戴上了。我想，已到北京了，还是戴上校徽比较好，尤其过了报到的时间，火车站不一定有接待新生的人了，有校徽戴在胸前，出了站问路也会方便一些。
列车在站台上徐徐停了下来。
大家听着播音员代表全体乘务人员对旅客们的热情告别，心情愉快地往车下走去。我跟在后边，通过车窗急切地打量着北京火车站的容貌，只见由五彩琉璃瓦装饰的宫殿式雄伟建筑在夜灯的照耀下，非常之宏大壮观。下车后，我一边往站外走，一边看着站里的每一个地方，觉得哪里都好看。
出了站，我还是在广场上找了找，看有没有政法学院的新生接待站。转了一圈，确定没有，我正要找人询问去政法学院怎么乘车时，惊喜的事情发生了。
一个姑娘一边瞅着我胸前的校徽一边跑到我跟前问：“请问你是北京政法学院的新生吗？”
我说：“是啊。”
