《八月之光》：福克纳的经典作品之一，在作家营造的“约克纳帕塔法世系”中占有重要位置。小说通过杰弗生镇十天的社会生活的描述，揭示了几个主要人特的一生极其三代家史，体现了人类“心灵深处的亘古至今的真实情感、爱情、同情，自豪、怜悯之心和牺牲精神”，故事主要分两条线索。一条讲的是克里斯默斯，他从小被送进孤儿院。因为被怀疑是“黑白混血儿”而从此失去了“身份”，受到社会种种虐待，最终促使他杀死了最后相遇的白种情人而被白人处死。另一条讲的是农村姑娘莉娜与情人相恋，怀孕后遭到遗弃，徒步来到杰弗生镇寻找情人。《八月之光》表明了作家反对种族偏见和宗教偏见的态度。

Author Description

威廉·福克纳（William Faulkner 1897－1962），美国文学史上zui具影响力的作家之一，意识流文学的代表人物。1949年因为“对当代美国小说做出了强有力的和艺术上无与伦比的贡献”而获得诺贝尔文学奖。福克纳一生共写了19部长篇小说与120多篇短篇小说，其中15部长篇与绝大多数短篇小说故事都发生在约克纳帕塔法县，是为“约克纳帕塔法世系”。1962年，福克纳因病离世。其主要作品有《八月之光》《喧哗与骚动》《我弥留之际》《圣殿》《押沙龙，押沙龙》《去吧，摩西》等。。
