《童年》是高尔基以自身经历为原型创作的自传体小说三部曲中的第一部（其他两部为《在人间》《我的大学》）。讲述了阿廖沙（高尔基的乳名）三岁到十岁这一时期的童年生活，生动地再现了19世纪七八十年代前苏联下层人民的生活状况，写出了高尔基对苦难的认识，对社会人生的独特见解，字里行间涌动着一股生生不息的热望与坚强。

原名阿列克谢·马克西莫维奇·彼什科夫。苏联著名文学家、社会活动家。对社会底层人民痛苦生活的深切体验，是他创作中永不枯竭的源泉。代表作有自传体三部曲《童年》《在人间》《我的大学》及《海燕》《母亲》《敌人》《马特维·柯热米亚金的一生》《俄罗斯童话》等。

Book Abstract

在一间半暗不明而狭小的房间里，窗口附近的地板上，躺着我的爸爸。他身穿一件白衣服，人显得异乎寻常的长，光着双脚，脚趾叉开，怪怪的。一双原本令人亲切的双手温顺地放在胸口，手指扭曲着。一双本是欢快的眼睛，紧闭着，上面压着两枚圆圆的黑色铜币旧时俄国民间风俗，人死后在他的眼睛上要放两枚铜币。。他善良的脸庞乌青发黑，龇牙咧嘴，令人见了心惊肉跳。

我妈光着上身，下身穿着红裙子，跪着，用梳子把我爸那柔软的头发从前额往脑后梳。那梳子原是我常用来切西瓜的。我妈的嘴不停地念叨着，声音低沉、嘶哑。她灰色的眼睛红肿，泪珠儿像融化了的冰水，滴滴答答淌了下来。

我的手被外婆拉着。她长得胖胖的，脑袋大大的，眼睛也大大的，鼻子肌肉松弛，可笑地耷拉下来。她一身的黑衣黑裤，显得软绵绵的，挺讨人喜欢。她也在哭哭啼啼，起起伏伏，像是与我妈的哭声合着拍。她浑身都在哆嗦，一手拉着我，把我往我爸跟前推。我硬是缠着外婆不敢往前去，干脆躲到她身后去。我既害怕又不自在。

我从没见过大人也哭哭啼啼的，也不明白外婆不停地念念叨叨着的是什么意思：

“你跟你爹告个别吧，往后再也见不到他了。他去了，宝贝，走得不是时候，太早了……”

我曾病得很厉害——刚刚好起来。我害病的时候——这事儿我记得一清二楚——我爸快快活活地照料着我，可他突然就没了，替他照顾我的换成了一个古怪的陌生人——我的外婆。

“你打哪儿来？”我问她。

她说：

“打上头来，打下诺夫戈罗德下诺夫戈罗德曾改名为高尔基市，苏联解体后，又改回。来。可不是走着来，而是搭船来的。水上可走不了人，你这小鬼头儿。”

怪哩，我不明白是怎么回事：上头，我家上头不是住着几个染了发的大胡子波斯人吗；地下室里，待着的是一个卖熟羊皮的黄皮肤的卡尔梅克老头。倒是可以骑着楼梯的扶手，从上往下滑，要不就是一个跟斗翻下来——干这种事儿我很有一手。这关水什么事？瞧她说得多邪乎，全乱套了。

Introduction

马克西姆·高尔基（1868—1936）原名阿列克谢·马克西莫维奇·彼什科夫，出生于一个细工木匠的家庭，早年丧父，寄居在经营小染坊的外祖父家里，只上到小学三年级，因外祖父破产而辍学。他从十一岁开始独立谋生，当学徒、做童工、在轮船上做仆役、在戏院里当配角等。1884年，他离开故乡到喀山，做工之余，勤奋读书，并接触到民粹派和俄国早期马克思主义者，在工人和农民中进行革命宣传，为沙皇政府所监视和逮捕。他曾两度在南俄和乌克兰一带流浪，对于劳动人民的生活和愿望了解很深。

高尔基的作品自1907年就开始介绍到中国，他的优秀文学作品,和论著鼓舞着艰苦卓绝斗争中的中国革命志士。

1913年至1923年间，高尔基陆续创作并发表了其自传三部曲 ?童,年?、 ?在人间? 和 ?我的大学?，记述了作者二十岁以前的坎坷经历，并鲜明地描绘了俄国整个时代及当时底层人民贫穷、落后、愚昧而空虚的生活状况，是俄国文学史上一部宝贵的纪实性系列小说。
