Book Abstract

我叔爷说起衡阳这最后几天的恶战，依然有着对日军的不屑。他说鬼子的步兵就算再多，冲得再猛，也根本不在他们的话下，他们吃亏就吃在鬼子的火炮上。
我叔爷说，他妈的鬼子的火炮，全变成了坦克一样。你想想，你想想，六七十门山炮，全推进到了我们阵地前一百米左右，直接向我们轰击，那不就是些坦克吗？我们连躲都没地方躲了啊！
就是这些坦克样的火炮，使得我叔爷所在连里的老兵，如排长、宫得富、曹万全、祝大鼻等，全部死光。但他们不是被火炮直接炸死，而是去炸火炮时阵亡。
八月五日、八月六日，日军的攻势有增无减。第十军外无援兵，粮弹渐尽，防线越缩越短。六千多重伤士兵无医药治疗，垂死待毙。敌我战死者已腐化的尸体，遍地脓血，引得红头苍蝇遮天盖地……
我叔爷所在的这个营，半天之内升了五个营长，连同原来的营长，几乎一个钟头阵亡一个。
我叔爷说，营长死了，连长也死了，老兵贩子排长代理连长。但这个连的实际人数，连原来的一个排都不到。这剩下的不到一个排的人，一个个面无血色，双目深陷，眼眶发黑，眼珠发红，满脸满身泥土，军衣破烂不堪，浑身上下血迹斑斑……
他们都知道，最后关头就要来了！当他们集中守到一起时，吊着一只手、身边放着两枚手榴弹的宫得富突然说：
“弟兄们，像我一样干过兵贩子的请开口，到了这个时候，也该把身份都亮出来了。”
我叔爷立即说：
“对啊，对啊，谁要是能活着出去，就把我们在这守衡阳的事告诉他的家乡人，让他家乡人知道，干过兵贩子的，在衡阳也是好汉，是英雄！”
我叔爷说他和宫得富硬是心心相通，他知道宫得富突然说出的那话，就是要让人能把他在衡阳的事带出去。宫得富心里，念念不忘的就是要让家乡人知道他在外面的功绩。
我叔爷接着说：
“我林满群当然是个老兵贩子，这我就不要说了，大家都知道。”
我叔爷一说完，原来的排长、此时的代理连长就说他是一个！这是他第一次对部下说他原来是个兵贩子。
代理连长一说完，曹万全便说他也是一个，不过大家应该早就知道。
曹万全说完，祝大鼻说自己是隐藏得最深的一个，他若自己不说，任人也不会想到。
祝大鼻一说自己是隐藏得最深的一个时，宫得富说：
“那老瘪兄弟，我看也是。只可惜他已经不在了。”
立即有人说：
“岂止是老瘪兄弟，我还知道好多……”
祝大鼻打断他的话：
“不在了的还是别说为好，谁知道他们自己愿不愿意说呢？还是说我们自己，说自己。”
于是大家纷纷开口。代理连长、宫得富、我叔爷都笑了。代理连长说：
“这下就好了，剩下来的几乎清一色全是兵贩子。我说为什么我们这些人能活到最后，原来我们都是能征善战的家伙，有丰富战斗经验和躲枪炮子弹的本事。”
不知是谁喊道：
“连长，我们向上面请示，就命名我们连为兵贩子连好了！”
所有的人，都被这话讲乐了。
我叔爷跟我说的这场景，让我想起了看过的一部电影，一个投靠日军、当上伪军司令的高大成高司令对他部下说，某某年跟着我干的举手。部下都举起了手。高司令乐呵呵地说，嗬，最小的都是连长了。连长连长，大炮一响，黄金万两。这里是干过兵贩子的请开口，结果都是些兵贩子。不过那些“最小的都是连长”们，帮着日本人杀中国人，而这些兵贩子，却是和鬼子血战到底！
日军的火炮在一阵炮轰后，向前推进了不少；又一阵炮轰后，又向前推进了不少。真如同坦克一样推进。
老兵贩子排长，或者已经可称为兵贩子连的连长急得大喊：
“必须干掉鬼子的炮！干掉鬼子的炮！”
然而，拿什么去干掉鬼子的炮呢？自己这方的炮火支援，早就没有了；就连手榴弹，也不多了。
“轰、轰”鬼子的炮直射过来。
鬼子的炮刚一停，兵贩子连长叫起来：
“老涂，老涂，老涂快扔手榴弹！”
兵贩子连长似乎已经被炮火炸懵，他忘记老涂早已死了。
“连长，老涂不在了，老涂不在了。”我叔爷忙提醒他。
兵贩子连长一喊老涂时，宫得富已经用那只仅剩的一只好手抓起身边的两枚手榴弹。
宫得富直朝鬼子的火炮冲去。
我叔爷见宫得富一冲，抓起枪就跟在后面，他要掩护这位将命和他连在一起的兄弟。
我叔爷的枪不停地击发，他如同在护送美式山炮进城时那样，什么也顾不得了，只是开枪，朝前冲；朝前冲，开枪。
宫得富伏下了。他放下一枚手榴弹，将手里那枚手榴弹的弦用牙齿咬住，扯开，将手榴弹投了出去。
“炸得好！宫得富，比老涂没差。”兵贩子连长大喊。
我叔爷说他没听见兵贩子连长兴奋的喊声，但宫得富在临死前说他硬是听见了连长的叫好。
鬼子的一门火炮被宫得富炸掉了，宫得富再用那只好手抓起放在地上的手榴弹，准备继续投时，鬼子的另一门火炮射向了他所在的位置。
这回宫得富是真正的血肉模糊了。当我叔爷爬到他身边时，他只说了两句话。第一句是说连长为他叫好，第二句是：
“满群老弟，快给我补一枪，快补一枪……”
我叔爷说他绝没有向宫得富开枪。他无论如何也开不了那枪。但宫得富就是死了。就死在他的面前。我叔爷嗷嗷叫着，抱着枪，对着鬼子的一门火炮冲过去。他那架式，是要去将炮夺过来！他是炮兵，只要夺了鬼子的炮，只要有炮弹，他就能朝着鬼子开炮！
我叔爷冲得是那么急，那么快，转眼间就冲到了距离鬼子火炮很近的地方，以致于对着他的火炮无法对他发射。我叔爷瞧见鬼子炮兵慌张了，不知要如何办才好了，鬼子炮兵慌得赶忙去找枪了……我叔爷正要大喊老子夺炮来了，老子又有炮使了！鬼子的另一门火炮，对着他开炮了。鬼子显然是连他们自己那门炮，连他们自己那门炮的炮兵也不打算要了。
“轰”的一声巨响，我叔爷倒在地上。
我叔爷一倒地，兵贩子连长抓着手榴弹冲了过来。兵贩子连长和宫得富一样，炸毁了鬼子的一门火炮后，被另一门火炮炸死。
曹万全、祝大鼻那些兵贩子，紧跟在连长后面，对着火炮冲……他们全都是死在火炮的直射中……
这个被他们自己戏称为兵贩子连的连，就这样没了，不存在了……
这一天，是八月六日。

兵贩子连虽然没有了，但他们这个团守卫的阵地依然没有丢。团长手中早已无预备队，他率领第二营营部仅存者及团部全部官兵二十六人前往增援；师长葛先才则带领身边的四个人赶来，做为团预备队（连师长在内的五人做为团预备队有多大作用呢？那稳定军心，激励斗志的作用无可比拟）；军长方先觉闻讯，也亲率特务营仅有的一连兵力，急急赶到。
