Book Abstract

英语发音有两个基本原则--“长短分明”和“轻重分明”。这两个原则有助于帮助学生摆脱汉语语音的影响以及正确掌握英语语音的特点。所谓“长短分明”，就是长音要长，短音要短。为使发音到位，学习者不妨在训I练时采用一点夸张的读法。但这个“夸张”，不是指口形的大小，张得大并不说明就能发音到位。英语中长音的长度实际上可以数倍于短音，例如，“He warned me not to go there．”说这句话时，“warn”的长度明显要长于所有其他音节，同时，其他四个词也要读得足够短，也就是说，“长”、“短”要分明。再如，英语中的双元音，应作长音看，可有人就是读不长，往往把后一个元音漏掉。例如：“What time is it？”这个句子中的“time‘’是个双元音，很多人刚念到【a】音就忍不住要把【m】读出来，这自然就影响了整个词的长度。同时，还会在不知不觉中造成”time“和”is“两词之间极其短暂的停顿，影响语句的流畅。所谓”轻重分明“，自然是重读音节要重读，非重读音节要弱读。首先是多音节词的重音要掌握好，不可读错。”dictiona r。y“的重音要放在第一个音节，不可读成dic‘tionary。有些多音节词似乎更容易读错重读音，像”agriculture“就有相当一部分人把重音读在了第三个音节，而不是第一个音节。所以要避免此类错误，就必须勤查词典，不可养成马虎的坏习惯。
