Book Abstract

下句以兖州当齐鲁山脉垂尽处，其南则原田千里，块士无垠，故云平野入青徐也。凡作登临怀古诗者，必山川之脉络形便，了如聚米，乃可着笔。因杜诗偶忆后贤所作，姑举二联，以告初学。李沧溟咏太行山云：千盘拔河内，一折走辽东。盖太行自河内起脉，自南而北而东，历尽燕晋之郊，乃折走出关，而趋辽左也。顾亭林《济南》诗：西来水窦缘王屋，南去山根接岱宗。以济水自王屋发源，伏流经历下，故云水窦。其次句以济南诸山皆南境岱宗余脉，故云山根南去。比类纪之，告学者勿率尔操觚也。
所向无空阔真堪托死生
杜甫
诗有纯用虚写，而精湛卓立，由其义深而词达，故力透纸背也。此少陵咏胡马诗，上句言所向千群辟易，有日行万里之概，无空阔可以限之。下旬言与人一心，生死不负。善咏名马，亦可为名将写照也。此诗三四句云：竹批双耳峻，风入四蹄轻。一言马态之雄，一言马行之迅。惟三四句实写而整齐，故五六句虚写而流动，诗律之细也。
暗水流花径春星带草堂
杜甫
此少陵《夜宴左氏庄》诗。时当月落，所闻者暗水溅溅，穿流花径；所见者春星历历，映带草堂。皆咏庄中夜游之景。其五六句云：检书烧烛短，看剑引杯长。言检书时久，故烛烧渐短；看剑兴豪，故杯引弥长。皆咏庄中夜叙之事。短长对岸，恰合事情。杜诗雄伟，此作独静细，诗随境异，各有所宜也。
水落鱼龙夜山空鸟鼠秋
无风云出塞不夜月临关
杜甫
少陵秦州诗，佳句甚多。独举此二联者，因注杜诗诸家，谓鱼龙川、鸟鼠山、无风塞、不夜城皆在秦地，其说诚然，作诗者未必不用此名；但少陵驱使群籍，运典入化，乃少陵特长。此二联虚实兼到，非专用地名。特加浅说，以告读杜诗者。鱼龙二句，谓水落而鱼龙当静夜之时，山空而鸟鼠值深秋之候。“夜”与“秋”字皆实用也。鱼龙句谓鱼龙遇水涨而嬉游，乃鱼龙之昼；因水落而潜伏，乃鱼龙之夜。鸟鼠句谓秦州当兵后，山野都荒，等于秋山之空寂。“夜”与“秋”字皆虚用也。无风句，承上“莽莽万重山，孤城山谷间”而来，谓城在万山深处，长日生云，且地临塞北，即无风而云亦飞扬出塞，言塞之近也。不夜句，谓城踞山头，不夜先能见月。近水楼台，尚先得月，何况山巅。言城之高也。此四句虽皆实有其地，但少陵运以诗意，融化而出之，句复倜傥，非沾沾于地名。读者以为何如？
抱叶寒蝉静归山独鸟迟
杜甫
《秦州杂诗》中，此二句亦意景兼到。以景言，则承第二句“川原欲夜时”而来，因欲夜故蝉静鸟归。以意言，盖谓世方多难，朝士皆噤若寒蝉，己之以寒士抱志而隐，亦犹寒蝉之抱叶而静也。下旬谓干戈未息，孤客天涯，欲归家而不得，犹独鸟欲归山而迟回。惟其寄慨之深，故接句言万方一概，吾道何之。若泛言暮景，于吾道万方何涉耶？
随风潜入夜润物细无声
杜甫
应时好雨，不在倾注而在透润。诗所谓“益之以蕨霖”也。他若春雨如膏，小雨如酥，皆言好雨之润细。此诗上句言雨之将至，则随风潜入。既降，则润物无声。可谓体物入微。若玉溪咏细雨之“气凉先动竹，点细未开萍”，笔力稍弱。柳宗元咏梅雨之“素衣今尽化，非为帝京尘”，伤迁谪而念君恩，别有寓意也。
水流心不竞云在意俱迟
杜甫
此与摩诘之“行到水穷处，坐看云起时”相似。王诗得纯任自然之乐，杜诗悟物我两忘之境，皆一片化机。上句谓逝水如斯，逐今古年光而去，尘世万缘，皆被此声消尽。
