大安的福勒斯和小安的福勒斯、大特洛米奥和小特洛米奥是两对孪生兄弟。早年因海上遇难，两对孪生兄弟失散。十八年后，大安的福勒斯带着仆人大特洛米奥去寻找失散的弟弟，两人来到以弗扫。也许是机缘巧合，小安的福勒斯和仆人小特洛米奥被人收养后，也生活在这座城市。小特洛米奥寻找小安的福勒斯回家吃饭，结果却把大安的福勒斯拉回了家……
《错误的喜剧》系莎士比亚早期创作的滑稽喜剧，也是莎剧最短的剧本。它取材于罗马剧作家普劳图斯的《孪生兄弟》，是莎士比亚艺术风格正在形成时期的作品。
剧中主仆各是一对孪生兄弟，为寻找彼此机缘巧合地来到同一座城市，却又不知道对方近在咫尺，造成了一系列张冠李戴的误会。
剧中语言诙谐，极尽打趣、笑谑之能事，奠定了莎士比亚喜剧风格的基础。该剧至今在英美上演不衰。

Author Description

莎士比亚（W. William Shakespeare，1564～1616），英国文艺复兴时期伟大的剧作家、诗人。本·琼森称他为“时代的灵魂”，马克思称他和古希腊的埃斯库罗斯为“人类最伟大的戏剧天才”。他的作品全方位展示了当时广阔的社会场景，具有浓郁的人文主义色彩。

译者：
朱生豪（1912～1944），浙江嘉兴人，诗人、翻译家。1936年开始翻译莎士比亚戏剧。为回应某国人因为中国没有莎士比亚的译本而对中国文化落后的嘲笑，把译莎看做“民族英雄的事业”，在译稿两度毁于侵略者的战火，工作和生活条件极其艰难的情况下，坚持译出了31部莎剧，为译莎事业献出了年轻的生命。朱译莎剧文辞华赡，充分表现了莎剧的神韵，得到读者和学界的广泛好评。
