本书收录了朱自清的全部散文作品，包括近年来一些学者最近找到的佚文，是目前最完整的朱自清散文作品。

同时，本书还收录了100多幅丰子恺的漫画作品，这些作品有的是丰子恺专门为朱自清创作的，有的则是与朱自清散文内容有关的丰子恺漫画作品。

偶然间，我在网上看到了一部1928年版的朱自清先生的《背影》，里面竟收了丰子恺为朱自清刚满四岁的女儿朱采芷画的画像。我想，这幅画当然不是丰子恺专门为了朱自清的散文画的插图，但是放在书里也非常的合适，我何不也这样做，找一些丰子恺的漫画插在朱自清散文的合适位置上，编一本有丰子恺插图的朱自清散文？

丰子恺先生是浙江桐乡石门镇人，而朱自清先生虽然自称“我是扬州人”，但实际原籍和鲁迅一样是浙江绍兴，这样二人算得上实实在在的同乡，而且两人都曾长期在浙江上虞白马湖附近的春辉中学教书，意趣相投，感情极好。

更有意思的是，丰子恺生于1898年的11月9日，十三天后，也就是1898年的11月22日，朱自清就诞生了。这就不能不说是一种缘分了。

有了这种想法，就开始选图了，丰子恺一生留下了近四千幅漫画作品，在当下还没有一部收全这些作品的画集，这使得我必须尽力看到丰子恺更多的作品，以便能使得与朱自清散文最契合的作品能被收入到书中，我没有仔细地统计过我最后究竟看到了多少作品，但至少能够有三千幅，因为别人传给我的全套电子版丰子恺漫画就已经超过了三千，当然这里面有很多类似的、重复的作品。

此外，为了编本书，我多次往返于单位和沈阳市图书馆之间，市图的漫画类图书在文学室进门后的最里面，那里的民国漫画书，我几乎都借阅过。此外，我还扫描了家中私藏的全套影印本《文学周报》上的丰子恺漫画，家里其他的一些漫画书也帮了忙，我并不是一个专门收藏漫画书的人，只是有时候碰到喜欢的民国漫画会买几本，未曾想也有几十种了。

具体往文章里插图并不难，只要细读朱自清先生的散文就好了，比如朱先生在《温州的踪迹》的第四部分开篇写道：“生命本来不应该有价格的；而竟有了价格！人贩子，老鸨，以至近来的绑票土匪，都就他们的所有物，标上参差的价格，出卖于人；我想将来许还有公开的人市场呢！……”

在这段文字的下一页，我便插了一幅丰子恺先生画的卖人的漫画。再比如朱自清的名篇《桨声灯影里的秦淮河》，我在文章中插了一幅丰子恺画的《十六年之元旦夜之秦淮一瞥》。再比如前面提到的朱采芷画像，我很自然地就放在了朱自清的《儿女》里。此外，我还放入了朱自清的诗文集《踪迹》的封面，因为这个封面也是当年丰子恺为朱自清设计的。最后一共选定了70幅插图。

还有，既然这部书叫朱自清散文全集，那么就必须是全集的规模，不能说毫无遗漏地收入朱自清全部的散文，但至少也要做一些近年学者新发现的朱自清佚文的收集和整理工作，在这其中，尤其要感谢的是武汉大学的陈建军教授，他无偿地将他近年发现的朱自清佚文的电子版和影印件发给我，新收入的佚文之中有一篇为《普益图书馆记》，为朱自清以文言笔写成，这套书本是不收录文言作品的，此前的《丰子恺插图鲁迅小说全集》就没有收录鲁迅早年的两篇文言小说，但我觉得此前因为从没有书收录这样文章，还是把它收进来吧。

朱自清之子朱乔森先生在1992年主编的三卷本《朱自清散文全集》的前言中，曾对朱自清广义的散文和狭义的散文做了一番准确的界定，而这本书《丰子恺插图朱自清散文全集》所选取的全部是朱自清狭义的散文作品，一些演讲、说明、赠言等，没有收录其中。

燕子去了，有再来的时候；杨柳枯了，有再青的时候；桃花谢了，有再开的时候。但是，聪明的，你告诉我，我们的日子为什么一去不复返呢？——是有人偷了他们罢：那是谁？又藏在何处呢？是他们自己逃走了罢：现在又到了哪里呢？
我不知道他们给了我多少日子，但我的手确乎是渐渐空虚了。在默默里算着，八千多日子已经从我手中溜去；像针尖上一滴水滴在大海里，我的日子滴在时间的流里，没有声音，也没有影子。我不禁头涔涔而泪潸潸了。
去的尽管去了，来的尽管来着；去来的中间，又怎样地匆匆呢？早上我起来的时候，小屋里射进两三方斜斜的太阳。太阳他有脚啊，轻轻悄悄地挪移了，我也茫茫然跟着旋转。于是——洗手的时候，日子从水盆里过去；吃饭的时候，日子从饭碗里过去；默默时，便从凝然的双眼前过去。我觉察他去的匆匆了，伸出手遮挽时，他又从遮挽着的手边过去，天黑时，我躺在床上，他便伶伶俐俐地从我身上跨过，从我脚边飞去了。等我睁开眼和太阳再见，这算又溜走了一日。我掩着面叹息。但是新来的日子的影儿又开始在叹息里闪过了。
