Content Description

作为20世纪80年代第一批到大陆走访的旅美作家，作者李黎女士和老一辈作家、学者的交往结缘的机会，乃是他人企望不及的。当年她在范用先生的引导下，一一拜访茅盾、丁玲、巴金、沈从文、黄永玉、艾青、钱锺书、杨绛、刘宾雁、李子云……他们中的大部分人，正处于“夕照余晖”，但都没有拒人千里，而是用相当坦诚、率真的态度直面作者，所谈所论，都极具最后的风采。而与作者“一同度过悲欣交集的80年代、变化巨大的90年代”者，则用他们的热情与温润，给作者留下美好的记忆。宝岛台湾上的殷海光、陈映真，又是作者的文学启蒙者和故友，“那些温煦的记忆”伴随作者“从青年岁月至今”。因此，《半生书缘》以这十二位人物为中心，用题记和图片结构各个时期记述他们的文字。作者整理成书，发现“倏忽已过半生”、“人书俱将老去”，但犹盼这些关于人与书、情与缘的篇章，能够成为“一个文学和文化的历史见证，一个20世纪民族书写的侧影素描”，而使“文字长存，记忆之河长流”。

Author Description

李黎，本名鲍利黎，是出生在大陆、成长在台湾、旅居美国的小说、散文、剧本及专栏作家。祖籍安徽，1948年生于江苏南京，1949年到台湾，毕业于高雄女中、台湾大学历史学系，70年代赴美，就读普渡大学（Purdue University）政治学研究所。曾任编辑及教职，现居美国加州斯坦福，专事写作。在中国大陆、台湾、香港三地出版小说、散文、翻译、电影剧本等逾三十部；获有多项小说奖、电影剧本奖（并拍成影片）。作品多次被选人台湾年度小说选、散文选；代表作被收入《中华现代文学大系》小说卷及散文卷、《廿世纪台湾文学金典》小说卷；并列为“台湾小说二十家”（1978-1998）之一。
著有小说《最后夜车》、《天堂鸟花》、《倾城》、《浮世》、《袋鼠男人》、《浮世书简》、《乐园不下雨》等；散文《别后》、《天地一游人》、《世界的回声》、《晴天笔记》、《寻找红气球》等；译作有《美丽新世界》；回忆录《昨日之河》。

十二位作家、学者、出版家、评论家，其文其人，都曾在我的文学生命里走过，有的驻足指点，有的伫留长谈。他们的话语文字，容貌举止，在我至少一半的人生里留下的涓涓记忆，随着时间汇成了一条荡荡长河。我在印象犹新的当时就用书写记下，更有幸者尚有图片的记录。在其后的岁月里，当珍贵的记忆再被触及，我还以新的文字补充。
所以，我所见到、记得、写下的，不仅只是对我的文学生命有过深远影响的人物，更是一个文学和文化的历史见证，一个20世纪民族书写的侧影素描。可是到了21世纪，今天的读者，有多少还熟悉这些人的文字，甚至名字呢？然而，只要是一个阅读者，只要还在阅读，纵使从来不曾直接阅读他们，我敢相信，也无可避免的经由他们滋润和影响过的文字，间接领受了这些文字之中其人和其文的传承。临河就水，-虽已望不见河源，也该知道源头来自的方向。……我何其有幸得以亲眼目睹历史，当时激动心情之下作出的记录，容待日后沉淀定格。今日整理成书，倏忽已过半生。人书俱将老去，唯愿文字长存，记忆之河长流。

Book Abstract

北宋大儒张横渠发出宏愿：“为天地立心，为生民立命，为往圣继绝学，为万世开太平。”我等一般读书人，难以承担如此大任，但在“横渠四愿”的鼓舞下，或许也能以绵薄之力，多少做点沾边的事。
比如，“为往圣继绝学”，一般读书人，系统地承继“绝学”，很难。但是，对“绝学”心存尊敬，以点滴之力，融会进将割断的学问重续的时代工程中，还是可以有所作为的。
“往圣”的“学问”之所以会被遮蔽、践踏、湮灭，其中最主要的，当属政治因素。在宏大的“往圣绝学”中，我们现在只取小小一瓢，即中国现代文学，来观察一下。由于1949年形成的新格局，在海峡那边岛上，上世纪前半叶的现代左翼作家的作品，一度被遮蔽、禁制，不仅鲁迅的文章读者读不到，举凡茅盾、巴金、丁玲、艾青、沈从文……的作品，也成禁书。海峡这一边呢，改革开放之前，由于“不断革命”，跑到岛上或异域的作家作品，也多被遮蔽、禁制，有的如胡适，对于一般年轻读者来说，只知他是个反动派，被猛烈批判，他的文字，只在大批判文章中被零星引用以为靶环，想看到他作品的完整面目，极难。再如梁实秋，他的大名是让人知道的，但被“钉在历史耻辱柱上”，“丧家的资本家的乏走狗”是撕不下的标签，至于他写有《雅合小品》，则不仅看不到，甚至连信息也不给。1949年以后留在大陆的作家，沈从文不仅不再写小说，连作家的身份也被褫夺，只好去故纸堆里讨生活，研究古代服饰；丁玲、艾青、吴祖光等陆续被打成“反党分子”、“右派分子”；巴金、曹禺头十七年还算太平，到了“文革”，也被打倒；钱锺书因为懂多门外语，总算用他一技之长，去参与翻译领袖诗词，但他在1949年以前曾出版过的长篇小说《围城》，在进入改革开放阶段才获重印，那之前的三十来年里，连我这样的“文学青年”，也并不知晓……
上面所提到的诸位现代作家，单个来说，或许有的难称“文圣”，但合起来，应是一个时代的神圣文脉，怎能将其从读者视野中“扫地出门”？
于是出现了一些力图冲破禁制，将切断的文脉接续上的较为年轻的读书人、写作者。李黎即其中一位。她1948年出生不久即被舅舅舅妈带往台湾，在那里长大成人，经历过台湾“戡乱”的威权政治所实施的白色恐怖，其中包括禁读鲁迅及留在大陆的诸作家的书。
