Author Description

周国平，中国社会科学院哲学研究所研究员，中国当代著名学者、散文家、哲学研究者、作家，是中国研究哲学家尼采的著名学者之一。
1945年生于上海，1967年毕业于北京大学哲学系，1981年毕业于中国社会科学院研究生院哲学系。
主要作品有散文：《守望的距离》《各自的朝圣路》《安静》《善良丰富高贵》《生命的品质》；随笔：《人与永恒》《风中的纸屑》《内在的从容》《把心安顿好》；纪实文学：《妞妞：一个父亲的札记》《岁月与性情：我的心灵自传》；学术著作：《尼采：在世纪的转折点上》《尼采与形而上学》，等等。

序

本书是我的一个新散文集，收入2011年至2014年所写的文章。在按时间顺序的结集中，这是第六本，此前的五本先后是《守望的距离》、《各自的朝圣路》、《安静》、《善良·丰富·高贵》和《生命的品质》。
检视这四年里的文字，我选定了一个关键词，便是觉醒。书中的话题涉及哲学、信仰、阅读、教育、生活等等，然而，哲学的沉思，信仰的寻求，经典的阅读，教育的进程，生活的磨练，终极的目的都是为了觉醒。如果不能觉醒，哲学就只是逻辑，信仰就只是姿态，经典就只是文献，教育就只是培训，生活就只是遭遇，一切都仍然是外在于你的。
怎样才算是觉醒？我认为有三个主要标志。一个觉醒的人，第一有坚定的价值观，知道人生中什么重要什么不重要，不被社会的习俗和潮流左右；第二有清楚的自我认识，知道自己的禀赋和志业之所在，不被偶然的风尚和机遇左右；第三有强大的精神性自我，知道灵魂的高贵和自由，不被外部的事件和遭遇左右。
坚定的价值观，清楚的自我认识，强大的精神性自我,这三者构成了坚强的核心。有了这三者,一个人才真正地成为了自己的主人。觉醒是一个过程，对于这三者，需要不断地巩固和维护。套用曾子的“吾日三省吾身”，就好比做日课，一个人不妨经常反省自己：我把名利之类次要价值当作人生主要价值来追求了吗？因为机会的诱惑或惰性的支配，我在做自己不喜欢也不擅长的事吗？我陷在一个当下的遭遇中，丧失掉理性的沉静和灵魂的自由了吗？这些情形往往是常态，惟有对之保持警惕，觉醒的力量才得以不断生长。
觉醒是一种巨大的内在力量，拥有了这个力量，一切外来的负面力量都不能真正把你打败。面对天灾人祸，世风的不正，人心的不善，落在你头上的不义，你诚然仍会痛苦，但是，你一定能够最大限度地保持内心的平静，因为你知道，没有什么能夺走你的内在的珍宝，使你的人生失去方向和意义。这是我的切身体会，在本书出版之时，我愿以此与读者共勉。
