铁树的处女之花

在花园里的金橘果落完的时候，旁边的铁树开花了。

从前听乡下的长辈说过，铁树要十年才会开花，是非常稀有难得的。因此，铁树开花也是一种祥瑞之兆，凡看见的人，都会沾染喜气。

我曾经多次看过铁树开花，每一次都感到难值难遇，常会感慨地想：人生能有多少个十年？看铁树开花又能有几回呢？

印象最深的一次是在中山纪念馆的花园，同时看到七棵铁树开花，每一朵花都有路灯的柱子一般粗，高达四五尺，使人忍不住大叹世间的神奇。然而，纵使看见公园里的七棵铁树开花，也没有像自己院子里的一棵铁树开花那样令我感觉欢喜。因为这是我自己种的铁树，生平的处女之花。我每天清晨浇水时，总会忍不住向铁树道喜，并深深分享它开花的喜悦。

铁树开花与其他花大有不同，先是从刚硬的叶梗中心长出一团如排球大小的柔软肉球，都是细致的米色。那肉球随着时间增生拉长，一尺、两尺、三尺，最后长成一个四尺长的圆锥状花朵，大花中密密地生着小花。

铁树开花的过程长达四个多月，过程缓慢而神奇，常令我误以为铁树的花永远不会凋谢。但我随即生起这样的念头：世上并没有永不凋谢的花！

铁树的花维持得如此长久，或者可以称为“铁花”吧！

在院子里喝茶的时候，我常和妻子讨论：“一朵铁花不知道用多久的时间才会完成它开放的过程？”

当铁花的顶部从圆形变成圆锥，终至成为锥尖，我们知道，铁树已完成处女之花，即将凋落了。果然，它最后的盛放维持了两个星期，有一天黄昏，我们在院子里喝茶，突然听见“咔嚓”一声，转头一看，铁花“啪嗒”落在地上。

我把铁花捡起，放在桌上，观看它最后凋零的样子。我想：铁树难得开花，终有开花之期；铁花固然长久，也终有凋零之日呀！

这世界上每一朵花的兴谢虽有长短之分，却无断灭之别。每一朵花都是由因缘所生，在因缘中灭去，是明明白白的，是人力所不能为的。

世间最有势力的人、最刚强的植物、最难逢的事件，正如眼前之花，无法免去因缘的兴谢。

我想起唐朝高丽的元晓大师曾说：“纵使尽一切努力，也无法阻止一朵

花的凋谢。”花如是兴谢，情感如是兴谢，因缘如是兴谢，生命中的一切过程不也是这样兴起与谢落的吗？与其为情感的兴谢、因缘的生灭而哭泣追悔，还不如把握当下，一往无悔地生活。

铁花开的时候，妻子还怀着身孕，孩子两个月大时，铁花才落下来。但故事还没有完结，在铁花凋落的底部，竟长出小小的黑红色种子；到儿子八个月大时，铁树的种子才完全成熟，大小如拇指，坚硬似铁，数一数，共有八十三粒。

我把三粒“铁子”种在花园，期待来年能长出新的铁树。其余的八十粒种子和那一朵铁花则摆在架上，每天看见时，内心对铁树开花的光阴有一种缅怀和疼惜。

在我观看铁花兴谢的时光里，铁树也见证了我这一年来生命的变化，但铁树默默无语，只把全副心力用来开花结籽，不像社会上一般世俗的人，对自己的情感用心太少，却对别人的情感用力太多。

我的疼惜是，我们虽全心追求美好的境界，生命中却总不免遗憾遗欢。

我的缅怀是，时光虽不可挽回地逝去，但总会留下余情余韵。

铁花终究不能回到树上，我只有修剪芜蔓的枝叶，等待下一次的花开。

在孩子的笑语中，我也知道，生命只有不断地承担，在每一个片刻里，才会发生更好的体会。

开完了处女之花的铁树，下次开花是什么时候？一年、十年或百年？问铁树，它默默无语。但是我知道，金橘落果处，铁树开花时，万法随因缘，天地不自私。如果内心常保有开花的祝愿，在因缘成熟的时候，最刚硬的心也会开花。
