Author Description

亚当·扎加耶夫斯基（Adam Zagajewski），波兰极具国际影响的诗人、小说家、散文家。一九四五年生于利沃夫（今属乌克兰），出生后即随全家迁居格维里策。二十世纪六十年代成名，是新浪潮派诗歌的代表人物。一九八二年移居巴黎。二〇〇二年返回波兰，居住在克拉科夫。他的主要作品有《公报》《肉铺》《画布》《炽烈的土地》《欲望》、《尝试赞美这残缺的世界》等,已被翻译成欧洲多种语言出版。他曾获得多项国内、国际权威大奖，包括二〇〇四年获得由美国《今日世界文学》颁发的诺斯达特文学奖且多次获诺贝尔文学奖提名。

Book Abstract

而我为什么要阅读呢？真的有必要回答这个问题吗？在我看来，诗人们似乎是为了完全不同的理由阅读，有些理由非常简单，跟其他普通人的动机没有什么不同。但是，我们的阅读主要在两种情形下显示出不同：为了记忆和狂喜。我们阅读，为了记忆（知识、教育）因为我们对在心智打开之前前人创造的很多事物感到好奇。这就是我们称之为传统的东西——或者就叫历史。
我们也为狂喜而阅读。为什么？没有特别的理由。因为书籍不仅包含智慧和秩序井然的信息，也包含了类似于舞蹈和萨满教的醉态般的一种力量。这在（某些）诗歌里尤其如此。因为我们自己也亲身体验了那些奇特的时刻，其时我们被一股力量驱使，它要求严格的顺从，而有时，虽然并非总是，它像火焰留下灰烬那样，在纸上留下黑色的斑点（“使纸变黑”，就如法语里对写作这一高贵行为的说法）。一旦你体验到狂喜的写作的时刻，就会像一个上瘾的吸毒者那样渴求更多。为了它，你什么都愿去做；阅读也就不会像是一种过分的牺牲

Introduction

在这本书中，作者的论题虽然也极为广泛，哲学、美学、诗学都在其中，却非常具有针对性，或者说很有“问题意识”、“现场感”，比如“崇高与粗鄙”、“诗歌与怀疑”这样一些问题的提出与思考，对我们（中国诗人和读者）也是颇有启示与警醒意义的。本书另一重头戏，便是作者对他精神意义上的导师，如恰普斯基、赫贝特、米沃什（或许还包括尼采）的精彩解读和追忆，其中既有生动的交往、体会的细节，也贯穿着作者个人深刻的发现、独到的理解。而且，文中充满对于上述人物的崇敬、仰慕之情，非常动人，这些散文可说具有很强的抒情性。
作者目前正在致力于出版他新写的随笔集，部分文章我在一些地方读了，有的还翻译了。应该说，作者的思想仍然是很活跃的，具有一贯的洞察力。在扎加耶夫斯基身上，明显地继承了他的精神导师恰普斯基，那样一种永不知足的、永远探求而“延缓做出评判”的精神。诗人余光中曾有“右手写诗，左手写散文”的戏称，很多诗人也有把散文、随笔当作“副业”的习惯。但是，我在读过扎加耶夫斯基的一些散文和随笔集后感到，它们到底算主业还是副业？还真不好说，因为我感到，至少扎加耶夫斯基是把它们当“作品”来写，它们的思想性和艺术性不仅很高，而且难得地融合在了一起。由于我的才疏学浅，很可能未能毕现其高妙之处，敬请读者、方家批评指正。
