《开卷十五年精选纸香墨润》：
这年九月，我自山东移家旧时钱塘，所写第一篇文稿《伴我南行》，又刊于翌年的《开卷》第一期上。同年第三期、第十一期还刊载了《追念吴祖光先生》《志感》。二○○四年也有两篇小文见载于《开卷》，分别是《严家炎与金庸武侠小说》和《牛汉与蔡其矫》。二○○五年又有两篇：《唐浞：最后的浪漫主义者》和《我是否理解巴金？》。
这样，在我与《开卷》结缘的前四年里，共在《开卷》发表八篇短文，密度甚高。此后也至少每年发表一篇，加上被宁文载入《开卷闲话》的那些零零碎碎的感言和信件，以及先后被收入公开出版的“开卷”系列书籍的各类闲杂文字，直到为《开卷闲话七编》撰写短序和去年分别加盟“开卷书坊”第三辑、“开卷闲书坊”，我以此自视为不折不扣的《开卷》忠实作者应不算言过其实吧？《开卷》出刊十五年，我为自己能与之相伴而增加生活的富足和喜乐。细细想来，其实总是有其内在缘故的。这些缘故，我在不同场合有过不少表述，在此勿须重复。简而言之一句话，可能就是《开卷》始终如一的风格恰好在某一层面上与我对读书、写书、藏书的期待相吻合。我没有生活于十九世纪的欧洲，也错过了中国文化史上奇异的“民国”时代，而只能无可选择地在一个“斯文扫地”的枯寂、贫瘠时代长大，又赶上了一个“由衰转盛”的文化再生（或日复兴）时期，一己的审美情趣与文学梦想只能在这个特定的背景上跌跌撞撞地寻求那一刹那的因缘际会。遇不上，也许就此一辈子客串“假面舞会”；遇上了，则也许就此发掘出真实的自己。假如当初不曾与《开卷》订交，我当然就不可能是今日之我，至少我的身份、色彩将另有一番合成，不似今日之子张了。天上掉下个林妹妹，半路杀出了程咬金，人生，有时就是这样充满了奇谲的际遇。
去年是我的另一个“开卷”之年。上半年忙于《一些书一些人》和《清谷书荫》的校改，下半年则忙于两本小书的发行，先后与两套书的其他作者参加了上海、北京、无锡三地的首发和品读活动，也借机认识了不少新的书友。无论是《一些书一些人》还是《清谷书荫》，也都得到了不少朋友、读者的认可甚至高评，看到的人无不赞叹这两套书装帧设计的别致、高雅。我三十年前的一位老师跟我说，此生能出版这样一《开卷十五年精选纸香墨润》，于愿足矣！另一位友人还在他编辑的报纸上用一个整版的篇幅介绍这两《开卷十五年精选纸香墨润》，让我感到友情的温暖。在此，我也向两本小书的编辑出版者、读者，特别是策划者宁文兄再道一声：谢谢！自然，我只是《开卷》众多读者、作者中的一位。积累到今天，《开卷》由一册小小的、朴素的民间读书杂志，已发展为蔚为大观的“开卷”现象甚至“开卷”集群，值得读书界、出版界、学术界深入观察和研究了。我也不止一次在不同场合说到，“开卷”已然成为当代读书文化一个无可回避的历史性成果，在切切实实地充实、丰富着我们自己所属的这个时代。正是从这个意义上说，“开卷”创造了它自己的幸运，虽然没赶上民国的“客船”因而做不了《学衡》，也做不了《新月》或者《语丝》，但却做了有特定内涵和外延的南京《开卷》，这还不够吗？十五年来读书事，缘结几个素心人；喧嚣过耳松石静，忙里偷闲看浮云。
