Author Description

陈晋，中共中央文献研究室副主任、研究员，中国中共文献研究会副会长，全国毛泽东文艺思想研究会会长，中国毛泽东诗词研究会常务副会长。多年来从事毛泽东和中共党史文献研究以及电影、电视文献片撰稿，著述和影视作品多次获中国图书奖、全国“五个一工程”奖、电视金鹰奖、电影华表奖。
主要著述有：《当代中国的现代主义》、《毛泽东的文化性格》、《毛泽东与文艺传统》、《毛泽东读书笔记解析》、《毛泽东之魂》、《文人毛泽东》、《读毛泽东札记》、《世纪小平——解读一个领袖的性格魅力》、《大时代的脉络和记忆——从五四运动到改革开放》等。参与撰写《毛泽东传（1893-1949）》，担任《毛泽东年谱（1949-1976）》副主编。

Book Abstract

说毛泽东的阅读重点是马列、哲学和中国文史，人们大体认可，也比较了解。关于西方著述，有人可能认为他读得不多，或者说不大了解。毛泽东读中国古代文史著述，确实比读西方著述要多，而且兴趣更大，但不能说他对西学不了解，或不愿意读。事实上，他读的西方著述并不算少。
青年时代，毛泽东接触西学，那时叫“新学”，思想受到不小影响。1959年5月15日会见外宾时，他还回忆说：“我相信亚当·斯密的政治经济学，赫胥黎的天演论，达尔文的进化论，就是资产阶级的那一套哲学、社会学、经济学。”当时，他对西方近代思想家、哲学家，诸如托尔斯泰、克鲁泡特金、柏格森、杜威、罗素等，很感兴趣。1920年经营长沙文化书社，他也主要是向读者推荐译介西学的著述，包括柏拉图的《理想国》，罗素的《政治理想》、《社会改造原理》，杜威的《美国之民治的发展》、《现代教育趋势》。
从延安开始，大量阅读马克思主义著作，是毛泽东了解西学的一个重要途径。马克思主义本身就是西学之一种，在成为中国共产党的指导思想后，才从西学思想中独立出来。读马列著作，不能不大量涉及西方的哲学、经济、政治、文化、历史；不了解这些领域的西学基本内容，就难以读懂马列，弄不清楚马列主义产生和发展的来龙去脉。列宁有本《黑格尔（逻辑学）一书摘要》，是读黑格尔《逻辑学》时所做的笔记，毛泽东很喜欢读，经常引用该书的一些话。他在1970年9月19日提出领导干部要加强学习时，就举例说，要使大家知道马列主义是怎么发展起来的，就应该读《拿破仑第三政变记》、《法兰西内战》。比较起来，在西学方面，毛泽东读得比较多的是西方哲学、西方近代史、西方自然科学。
关于西方哲学。毛泽东了解得比较多的是古希腊哲学、德国古典哲学和现代英美哲学。在1964年2月9日同外宾的谈话中，他曾梳理过自己对古希腊哲学到马克思主义这中间的代表人物的认识，然后总结说，黑格尔是“马克思、恩格斯的先生，也是列宁的先生，也是我们的先生”。
关于西方近代史。毛泽东比较注意资产阶级革命的历史，大概是因为西方近代资产阶级革命和中国新民主主义革命，在一些内容和过程上有相近的地方，前者的经验可做参考。1970年5月1日会见西哈努克亲王时，他明确提出，“要搞革命，需要了解几个国家的革命史，美国革命、法国革命、德国革命”。在各国革命史中，他尤其喜欢阅读和谈论法国革命史，这与中国革命和法国革命在复杂、剧烈、彻底的程度等方面比较接近有关。
关于西方自然科学。毛泽东说，在这方面“东方人要向西方学习”。他比较感兴趣的是天体史、地球史、生物史、人类进化史等方面的代表性论著。关于康德和拉普拉斯的星云学说，关于达尔文的进化论，关于遗传学领域摩尔根学派和米丘林学派的争论，关于土壤学，关于物理学界的基本粒子新概念，关于杨振宁、李政道提出的宇称不守恒理论，毛泽东都曾花工夫去阅读和了解。
