《让数字说话：审计，就这么简单》：
会计师事务所一般先安排审计人员尽量详细地了解客户的情况，并据此制定一个审计工作计划。“凡事预则立，不预则废”嘛，审计工作计划是审计工作很重要的一环。接着，一支审计队伍会被派到客户现场工作上一段时间，然后回到所里整理好工作底稿供负责项目的经理及合伙人审阅。审计师的工作底稿是用来记录审计师工作和收集的审计证据的。在会计师事务所里，一个项目经理往往要同时负责好几个项目。合伙人更是如此。所以，项目经理和合伙人不可能常驻某一客户的工作现场来了解客户的详细情况，而是通过审阅审计队伍的工作底稿的方式来了解客户的情况，检查审计队伍的工作质量。这种审阅工作底稿的安排，也是为了借重项目经理和合伙人更为丰富的经验，以及避免出现“当局者迷，旁观者清”类型的错误。
如果项目经理及合伙人在审阅工作底稿时有疑问，就会将问题提出来，要求做现场审计的人员解答或再做一些审计工作。当所有的疑问都解决了，合伙人就可以签发审计报告了。
一个事务所里，人员结构是一种金字塔式的结构，基层工作人员多，项目经理较少，合伙人更少。一直在现场工作的，主要是基层工作人员。而这些基层工作人员在做完一个项目回到办公室，也往往只是呆几天，整理一下工作底稿，就又要奔赴下一个项目了。所以，在很多事务所里，基层工作人员是没有固定座位的。如果整个事务所有100名基层工作人员，可能只有50个座位。反正总有人在客户现场工作，不需要每个人都有座位。
我见过的好的事务所的管理，是使用类似旅馆登记房间的方式分配座位，将办公室里所有的座位都编上号。某位审计师今天在客户现场忙完了工作，明天要回办公室工作三天了，就事先打个电话给行政人员，预订一个座位，预订3天。他甚至可以要求是靠窗或者是靠走道的座位，就像坐飞机时订座位一样。行政人员告诉他一个座位编号，他就可以在第二天直接去那个座位了。如果办公室的电话系统够先进的话，这名审计师的分机号也会自动地调整到那个座位上。三天后，当他要离开时，他可以将自己要留在办公室的东西收拾一下，装到一个箱子里交给行政人员。等他下次再回到办公室的时候，他可以直接从行政人员那里将这个箱子领回来。
有人可能担心，要是审计师工作都不忙的时候，比如说夏天的时候，都回到办公室，座位不够怎么办？一般解决的方法有两种：
一是鼓励员工这个时期休带薪年假。审计师的工作，有忙季淡季之分。在忙得时候，加班工作是常事，但一般会计师事务所给的带薪年假也较多，好让审计师在不忙的时候休息一下，也为事务所省出一些房租来。不过，很多审计师在休年假的时候，也并不是真休息，而是要抓紧时间准备注册会计师考试和其他一些考试，或者学习一些别的知识。
