Author Description

埃尔赫南·赫尔普曼，1946年出生于苏联，1957年移居以色列，现任以色列特拉维夫大学经济学教授和美国哈佛大学经济学教授。赫尔普曼教授是一位富有创造性的经济学家，自1974年起共出版了数十部著作，发表了一百多篇学术论文，研究领域包括城市经济学、公共经济学、国际贸易理论、国际金融理论、经济增长理论，尤其是在新贸易理论和新增长理论领域他作出了奠基性的贡献。
保罗·R.克鲁格曼，1953年出生于美国纽约，因在分析国际贸易模式和经济活动的地域等方面所作的贡献获得2008年诺贝尔经济学奖，现为普林斯顿大学伍德罗威尔逊经济学与国际事务教授。他曾经在1991年获得美国经济学会为杰出中青年学者设立的克拉克奖，在《美国经济评论》等学术期刊发表论文一百多篇，出版有《萧条经济学的回归》、《发展、地理和经济理论》、《地理和贸易》、《战略性贸易政策和新国际经济学》、《市场结构和对外贸易》、《贸易政策和市场结构》等二十余部专著。

很少有工业品市场和服务市场满足完全竞争假定。除了非常有限的几个标准化产品市场外，企业通常不把自己看作单纯的价格接受者。实际上，在很多——如果不是全部的话——市场上，只有数量非常有限的重要竞争者，并且这些竞争者知道他们的行为之间是相互依赖的。
对一个经济体在总体上正确的，对国际贸易也正确。世界贸易的一多半是制造品，这些产品的市场通常是寡头而不是竞争。矿产品市场通常也是寡头（或寡头竞争，其生产阶段是高度集中的）。甚至在农产品交易中，像销售局(marketing boards)这样的机构所起的普遍作用意味着，相关参与者通常不是价格接受者。换句话说，国际贸易研究应该有一部分是国际产业组织研究。
