第一章为什么你不能坚持？

1.1人生命运迥然不同的两个上班族

首先，让我向各位讲一讲吉田先生与新井先生的故事吧。这两位是完全不同类型的上班族，你可以对照一下，看看自己属于哪种类型。

没耐性：吉田先生的故事

吉田先生对于网络的发展动向非常敏感，他精力旺盛，充满挑战精神。2003年，开始流行用电子报做传送信息的工具，吉田先生也跟上了这股潮流。他以自己的专业领域“业务力”为主题发行电子报，最开始的目标是每天都发行。他持续做了一星期电子报，后来因为工作繁忙而加班，于是改为隔日发行，接下来又变成了休三天发行一次。最后，因为觉得太麻烦了，干脆放弃了发行电子报的想法。

到了2004年，吉田先生又跟上了写个人博客的潮流，决定每两天发表一次自己的业务活动日志。一开始他觉得很新鲜，所以持续发表了三周左右。渐渐地，更新内容的频率降低，到了第二个月就完全不再更新了。

同样地，他也跟上了2006年社交网站的风潮，很早就到日本最具代表性的社交网站

mixi注册，联系了高中时代的伙伴、工作上的朋友，总共增加了将近一百位联络人。不过，后来他又感觉腻了，最近也都不再登陆网站了。

到了2009年，吉田先生又加入了大家热衷的“推特”（Twitter）。他认为“推特”发布的讯息字数比博客少，应该可以坚持下去。结果，跟以前一样，他登陆网站的次数逐渐减少，三个礼拜后就不大更新，最近也几乎看不到他的留言了。

能持续：新井先生的故事

而吉田先生的同事新井先生，在2003年时也和吉田先生一样工作之余汇整时间管理的技巧，并发布电子报。由于事先就认识到每天发布的话工作量太大，所以他将目标设定为一周发布三次。虽然第一个月只有三十人访问，但却收到了读者感谢的留言。有恒心的新井先生一年总共发出一百六十份电子报。一年过后，他获得了读者的好评，甚至有“粉丝”上门请教。而新井先生对读者的提问都能够仔细地回答。

到了第三年，有读者为了提高个人的工作效率，委托新井先生担任他的个人咨询顾问。当时，公司允许员工在外经营副业，因此新井先生开始电话做兼职咨询工作，每个月仅收五千日元的咨询费。这时，新井先生初次尝到独立接案的喜悦。

第五年时，某商业杂志向新井先生发出邀请，想就时间管理这一主题采访新井先生。虽然采访稿只有小小的篇幅，也没有登出受访者的照片，不过，能登上杂志媒体，已经是他意料之外的收获了。采访的效果慢慢“发酵”后，新井先生接到的个人委托咨询案也增加了。再加上客户口耳相传，即便每月的咨询费提高到了三万日元，也能吸引十多个客户。新井先生利用电子报介绍咨询案件与客户的咨询过程，内容深得读者好评，读者的人数涨到了一万三千左右。

到了第七年，某家大出版社的编辑前来约稿，希望能把新井先生的电子报整理成书籍出版。由于电子报的总发行量共有一千多份，所以书的内容十分充实。对于新井先生而言，出版书籍曾经是他的梦想，所以他二话不说就答应了。三个月后，新井先生的书陈列在了书店的书架上。

从那时起，所有的事情一下子运作得很顺利。有读者委托咨询，也有公司委托新井先生举办演讲、研习课程等。另外，电子报的读者人数也跃升到三万二千人，这时也出现了企业的广告委托。甚至，有三家出版社主动提出希望出版新井先生的第二本书。当时新井先生以公司的工作忙碌为由拒绝了，但是后来他觉得这是他的才能和价值所在，因此新井先生辞掉公司的工作，自行创业。独立创业让他的收入远高于以前上班族的收入。

小小的行动产生“加倍回报”的结果
