第一部分：
大多数大学毕业生和刚刚入职的职场新人是带着十几年成长过程中形成的学生心态面对职场的，把职场中很多正常的关系想象成学校里学生与老师的对立关系、同学与同学之间的竞争关系、普通同学与班干部之间的拉拢关系，简单地用对错衡量任务，而不是把每一件任务完成得尽量好。
带着一大堆各种“证”进入职场并不能给你加太多印象分，职场更看重你的心态。能否在职场如鱼得水，取得成功，关键在于要有正确的职场心态，而不是学生心态。所谓学生心态，是一种被动接受的以完成量化任务为终极目的的消极心态，是一种遵循现有模式做事的心态，也是人生的一种错误心态。持这种心态的人，将自己置于任务下达方的对立面，以遵循固有模式为方法，以基本达标为前提。

两种心态体现在具体的工作中有诸种不同表现，从而决定了你是成功地成为二八中的二，还是八，比如：为自己工作还是为别人工作、主动工作还是被动工作、为今天工作还是为未来工作、为爱好工作还是为人生工作、追求最低标准还是最高质量、对立关系还是协作关系、平等竞争还是非平等竞争、是客观原因还是主观原因、喜欢表扬和正确对待批评、对待报酬的不同态度、自我纠错还是依赖纠错机制、你是在奉献还是在被造就。
通过这十二种不同的认知和产生的结果，作者得出结论：正确的心态决定细节，细节决定成败。
