如果有人说，“天呐，这份情况报告真是太棒了”，唯一的可能就是，这份情况报告改变了他们掌握的信息。

听众在见过其前所未见之事，或理解了他们从未想过的问题之后，才会产生改变。

如果仅仅是罗列事实和数据，就很难得到听众的认可，也无法获得提升。

数据是最具说服力的真理，但仅提供数据总会让人觉得枯燥乏味，兴趣寡然。“仅有数据和事实”可能会做出一份不错的情况报告，但很难算得上是一场非同凡响的演讲。

把情况报告看作体育比赛的现场直播。（不过，请记住：我们只是解说员，不是啦啦队员。）

任何话题只要条理清晰地进行解释说明，都能吸引听众。要做到条理清晰，必须把复杂的问题分解成若干步骤，然后再将这些步骤重新组合。

“搞清楚问题”是我们的终极目标。

我们的大脑会在我们突然弄清楚了某个长期困扰我们的问题后，分泌出多巴胺，那种感觉就像吃了一大块巧克力蛋糕，这是大脑给予我们的奖励。

无论是描述自己的新发现，还是向观众展示制作蛋糕的方法，其本质都是解释说明的过程。

关于营销推广型故事情节的最后几点想法。

“软式垒球”模式的关键是找到我们与受众之间的共同之处。

任何一种营销推广的目的都是说服听众尝试新鲜事物。但在大部分情况下，“新鲜事物”并不是人们目前真正想要的。因此，我们首先要找到一个问题，而且这个问题是我们和听众共同面临的问题。

那些对于问题不甚了解的人，在推销自己的方案时往往会一败涂地，因为听众一下子就能判断出我们是否实话实说。

如果我们想向别人推销方案和设想，就必须真正了解问题所在。所有的演讲都是“推销”，但只有营销推广式演讲把营销放在中心位置上。

我们所有的演讲都是“营销”：情况报告推销新的信息；解释说明推销新的能力，戏剧表演——我们接下来即将讨论的故事情节——推销的则是情感。但只有营销推广将“ 销售” 放在核心位置上，而且光明正大，这是为什么呢？
