Book Abstract

所谓“助人道”（菩萨道），也就是大乘之人由发心修行到成佛的漫长过程，在这个过程之中，除了自修自度之外，普度众生也是他们的使命。大乘菩萨道精神用一句话来概括是“上求菩提，下化众生”，即自行化他，自利利他。
发菩萨愿之后，必须将之付诸修行实践。整个菩萨道的修行，都属于行菩提心的范畴，内容主要为六度四摄。六度为布施度、持戒度、忍辱度、精进度、禅定度、般若度。经论中亦有十度之说，即在六度之外加上方便度、愿度、力度、智度。四摄为布施、爱语、利行、同事。
大乘的六度之法是：
1．布施度。布施度是大乘佛教基本教义的入门之义。也是大乘修证方法的入门之法。大乘佛教教义认为：众生皆以自私贪求造成苦果，因此，修证大乘菩萨道的信徒，要尽我之所有和所属，作为布施，以满足众生的欲望，以感化众生的贪悭。布施度本身又有外布施、内布施和无畏布施三种。外布施是用被佛教称为身外之物的财物来布施，因此称为外布施，也称为财布施。内布施或以知识、学问、智慧、精神对他人进行布施，或自己内心放下一切贪念欲求，化解一切人生烦恼。由于内布施主要是一种智慧和精神布施，因此也称为法布施。无畏布施指的是不顾个人安危、无私无畏、舍生忘死，甚至牺牲自我，为他人救苦救难。
2．持戒度。大乘的持戒度除了修证小乘的戒杀生、戒偷盗、戒邪淫、戒妄语、戒饮酒等五种行戒之外，更主张修证大乘佛教的心戒，比如戒为求好名声而行善积德，这是因为，有这种为求好名声的动机，就是犯了大乘的心戒。
3．忍辱度。即要忍受物理世界的寒热饥渴，忍受人间的世态炎凉，忍受他人的羞辱打击。要忍人所不能忍，行人所不能行。为了慈悲救世，普度众生，要能够忍受一切羞辱。而且要做到在忍辱之后，在内心连忍辱的观念也不能留存。
4．精进度。所谓精进度，即要求修菩萨道的信徒励精身心，修炼不怠，坚持如一，成就一切善法。
5．禅定度。即止观静虑，修证四禅八定，乃至九种大禅。做到无论动、静、内、外、何时、何处，无一不在禅定的境界。一刻也不离开禅定境界以安定自处。
6．般若度。般若度也叫做智慧度。即以智慧自度，同时也以智慧度人。但般若并非一般的普通智慧，而是一种人生大智慧，是能化解人生烦恼，领悟人生真谛的真如智慧，也是一种能使人明法悟道、脱凡入圣的大智慧。这种般若大智慧，本身又由以下五种类型的般若智慧构成：
一是实相般若，也称为实相智慧。所谓实相，也就是宇宙本原之相，真如道体之相，明心见性之相。实相本身空灵无相。因此实相般若也就是要有证悟这个实相无相的智慧。
二是境界般若，也叫做境界智慧。所谓境界智慧，就是要有靠明心见性来证悟心灵世界的各种意境的智慧。有了这种智慧，即使身处世俗的烦恼困苦之中，也能证悟到佛的这种只可意会，不可言传的真、善、美、乐的境界。
三是文字般若，文字般若就是文字智慧。这种智慧指的是修证领悟语言文字境界的智慧。比如，中国禅宗的六祖慧能虽然一字不识，但他的语言文字智慧非同一般。他在仅听到《金刚经》的“应无所住而生其心”的八字经文之后，即豁然开朗，顿然开悟。并在以后作出了那首成为千古绝唱的四句名偈。六祖慧能所表现的这种智慧就是通常所说的文字般若。
四是方便般若，也就是方便智慧。所谓方便智慧，就是千手观音菩萨一样善用诸法，善变诸法的智慧。即能够随机应变，随遇而安，灵活多变地运用各种悟道和修证方法。用我们现在的话来说，就是要有善于运用灵活机动的战略战术的智慧。
五是眷属般若，也就是眷属智慧。所谓眷属，也就是通常所说的万事万物之间的关联和逻辑关系。眷属智慧就是在持六度之法进行修行时，要有关联六度而达到菩萨境界的智慧。
