围绕治疗目标，医生将确定详细的治疗手段、先后次序、时间安排，为患者提供清晰明了的治疗流程图。若需医疗团队多位医生共同参与的复杂病例，则要组织会诊，确定各专业治疗的顺序和交接流程安排。
体现美学设计的载体有很多种类型，不同类型的载体，带给患者不同的直观性感受。
有的医生喜欢采用电脑模拟设计，这种设计方法对于熟练掌握计算机应用的医生来说并不复杂，通过对患者的术前影像进行简单的PS修改、替换、复制等处理，患者可以很快就看到模拟出来的术后效果；目前也有一些专门的软件程序支持这一类美学设计，其“傻瓜”应用模式，使得操作过程更加简便。
但是，这种方式只适合作为和患者的初步交流、治疗形式的介绍，让患者对治疗的效果有一个初步的认识，启发患者的治疗意识。因为，电脑模拟设计非常粗略，大部分细节无法得到体现，并且无法做到准确。而且，由于多采用复制、替换等方式进行修正，电脑设计获得的结果经常会超出实际治疗的效果。因此，无论医生、还是患者，都应该明确地知道，电脑设计的并不是实际治疗能达到的效果。
电脑模拟设计在很大程度上类似于房地产商为购楼者提供的楼盘效果图，理想化、模式化，可以看到楼盘未来大体上的情况，可能会带给购房者强烈的购买欲望，但实际上房屋的细节设计在这种效果图上是不能展现的，而且所有消费者也都知道，不应该用效果图的标准要求真实的房子，那只是一个理想化的目标。
制取研究模型、制作诊断蜡型（图1-19），在诊断蜡型的基础上取硅橡胶印模，再利用硅橡胶印模用树脂材料制作树脂罩面（图1一20），是目前最常用的、最可行的美学设计流程。
