医学基础化学实验是医学生的一门重要实验课，该实验课对培养学生科学的思维方法、综合能力、创新意识及全面推进素质教育都具有重要意义。
为进一步推进医学基础化学实验教学的改革和发展，逐渐使之与国际接轨，以适应将来国际交流的需要，本书根据教育部有关医药院校和生命科学相关专业基础化学、无机化学和分析化学的教学规划，结合编者多年的基础化学实验教学改革、双语教学实践，并借鉴和吸收国内外相应教材优点编写而成。该教材旨在通过两大板块和四个层次，建立一个能力与素质为一体的二段式四层次的实验技能训练模式，即以基础知识为主的基本技能训练和以能力为主的综合性、设计性及应用性技能训练，使学生熟练地掌握有关无机化合物的合成、组分的定性和定量分析及常用理化常数的测定等实验技能；结合PBL教学法开设“设计性实验”，使学生的动手能力、创新思维、科学素养等综合素质得到全面培养。本教材具有下列特点。
1.主要内容分为两大板块：中文板块和全英文板块。各板块自成体系，通过灵活取舍分别供中文实验教学、全英文实验教学和双语实验教学使用。在我校多年的实验课程双语教学和全英语教学实践中，该体系对构建数字化、信息化和外语教学的平台，提高学生的科技英语水平具有良好的效果。
2.实验内容的安排是以加强实验技能的综合训练和素质能力培养为主线，分为四个层次，即基本技能训练实验、应用性技能训练实验、综合性技能训练实验和设计性技能训练实验。实验内容由浅人深、循序渐进、逐步提高，使大学一年级学生掌握必备的基础化学实验的基础知识和基本技能，具有良好的实验素养和严谨的科学态度，初步具备获取知识和开拓创新的能力，并树立不断学习的观念与掌握科学的思维方法。
3.编写的“综合性实验”和“设计性实验”是为了满足学生个性发展的需要，给学生充分思考、开拓和创新的余地。前者相当于教学中的阶段性总结，可由学生自己独立完成，有利于培养学生独立分析问题和解决问题的能力。后者是在编者多年开设“设计性实验”的基础上，将趣味性和应用性实际问题与PBL教学法相结合编写而成的，附有相关指导内容，学生经过设疑、收集整理资料、检验求证等环节，以提高独立分析与解决问题的能力和创新能力，培养自主学习的意识，并树立团结合作的精神。
4.适当安排一些反映化学学科发展前沿的实验，以利于学生在掌握实验基本技能的同时，对化学学科的新进展、新技术有所了解，激发他们学习化学知识与相关学科的兴趣。
