2007年6月，中华中医药学会在广州召开大会，将首届“国医骨伤名师”称号，授给了为中医骨伤科事业做出卓越贡献的23位精诚大医。为了更好地继承和弘扬骨伤学术，贯彻全国中医药工作会议精神，配合中医药界正在实施的培养名医、创建名科、建设名院和中医药进农村、进社区、进家庭的“三名三进”工程的建设，继承、传播首届23位“国医骨伤名师”卓尔不群的辉煌人生和宝贵临床经验，中华中医药学会骨伤科分会决定整理出版《骨伤名师二十三讲》一书。
该书共23讲，内容包括每位骨伤名师的近照、简介和专题讲座。各名师或就一个病，或就一类病，倾其毕生见识去讲解：如何认证、识病，如何辨证分型，如何预防治疗等。见解深刻独到，内容丰富翔实，几乎涵盖了骨伤大家们临床处置常见病、疑难病方方面面的经验。技术内容上，既有对疾病发病、演变规律认识的阐述，也有对识病、辨证要领心悟的讲解；既有家传或经验方药：内服、外用）的应用解析，又有各门各派特色手法的操作描述，如疾病的辨证要点、方药的应用特点、手法的操作技巧、临证的注意事项等。学术内涵上，有最新的研究成果，又有传统的流派特色，如洛阳平乐郭氏正骨、上海石氏正骨、北京宫廷正骨、山东文登整骨、广东岭南伤科及湖北武当流派，等等。各名师以其传人的身份，就其流派的特色和精髓从特有的视角，在深刻理解领会的基础上进行了浅深合宜的阐述。是书成，必能为“三名”工程增添一景。名为《讲稿》者，意谓国医登坛演讲也，读来定是如耳亲聆。
