Author Description

李时珍（1518—1593年），字东璧，晚年自号濒湖山人，湖北蕲州（今湖北省黄冈市蕲春县蕲州镇）人，汉族，生于明武宗正德十三年（公元1518年），卒于神宗万历二十二年（公元1593年）。中国古代伟大的医学家、药物学家。

译者简介：倪泰一，生于1960年代，毕业于第三军医大学，先就职于西南医院烧伤研究所。后专事创作，是第三代诗人代表之一、整体主义诗歌运动的主要发起人，其作品曾入选《中国现代诗群体大观》、《朦胧诗300首》、《后朦胧诗全集》等合集。有《养气八条脉》《养老三付药-起居.守静和粥》《遵生八笺》《黄帝内经》等畅销的编译作品。

序
《本草纲目》是明朝医药学家李时珍耗费30余年心血的结晶。在中国的科学著述中，《本草纲目》堪称在全球范围内影响最大的一部。它几乎囊括了药物学、病理学、物候学、气象学、动物学、植物学、农学、饮食养生学等学科，是世界科学史上收录民生日用品物最为广博的一部本草大全。从首次刊行于世起，《本草纲目》就一直上为王公大臣，下为庶民百姓所珍爱，并在平常饮食日用之间加以披览，确如明神宗评价此书的：“此即民生日用不可废者。”
《本草纲目》全书共190余万字，分52卷，收录各种日用和药用品物1 892种，其中植物药1094种、动物药443种、矿物药161种、其他类药物194种，收录药方11096种，绘制插图1110幅。该书先以部为纲，以类为目；再以类为纲，以各个品物为目；最后在每种品物之下，以品物为纲，以八项析解为目，故命名为“本草纲目”。卷一至卷四为附录，收入序言、凡例、目录等内容。卷五以后是纲目部分。所有品物分为十六部：水部、火部、土部、金石部、草部、谷部、菜部、果部、木部、服器部、虫部、鳞部、介部、禽部、兽部、人部。正文包括七个部分：第一，“释名”——罗列各种典籍中该品物的异名，并解说诸名由来；第二，“集解”——集录诸家对该品物产地、形态、栽培、采集的时间与方法等的论述；第三，“修治”——介绍该品物的炮制法和保存法；第四，“气味”——说明该品物的性味；第五，“主治”——列举该品物所能医治的主要病证；第六，“发明”——阐明药理或记述前人和自己的用药心得；第七，“附方”——辑录以该品物为主的各种验方。全书可谓条理清晰，内容完备。
《本草纲目》自问世以来，刻本甚多。《中国中医古籍总目》收录的1912年以前的版本就有82种，其中以“金陵本”“江西本”“钱本”“张本”等少数几个版本为优本。1606年，《本草纲目》传入日本后，被多次翻刻和注释，对日本药物学产生了巨大影响。在东南亚其他国家，《本草纲目》同样大受欢迎。1647年，波兰人弥格来到中国，将《本草纲目》译成拉丁文流传欧洲，后来又先后译成日、朝、法、德、英、俄等文字。至19世纪，《本草纲目》及中国本草学在欧洲产生重大影响，也开始有人因为研究本草而获得博士学位。
作为一部关于饮食养疗的惊世之作，《本草纲目》详细收载了人们在日常生活中唾手可得的养生、疗疾的饮食物——黍稷瓜果、禽兽草木、鱼虫蔬禾类近2000种，更有各种绝妙的食疗、食养方一万余条，是现今所存搜罗最广、内容最精妙、一品一物无不逐条明晰的本草大全。同时，它还详细阐明了天地间所有饮食物的产地、种类、养生功效及烹制方法，就天地间动植物、水火金玉及一些奇怪之物也提供了全面、有趣的知识，其在内容上的广泛性和实用性，足以使阅读者成为博学之士和经验丰富的“生活家”。但是，《本草纲目》原本太过艰深难懂，其中许多古病名和病证与现代医学术语也相去甚远，让今人难以深悟，这大概就是它在当代未能像在古代一样广为流传、几乎居家必见的原因吧。
所以，为了利于人们更好地掌握日常饮食养疗的知识，更确切地认识到“养生之道并不远人，只在平常日用之间”，发挥《本草纲目》在日常生活中的实际功效，我们依据江西本《本草纲目》的编排体例进行了白话精译。精译本保留了《序例》卷目中“神农本草经名例”“七方”“十剂”等二十个医理条目；保留了《百病主治》中255种常见病证和与该证相对应的药方；精选了常见的实用品物1000种，去除了现今已不复存在，或者怪异难得，或者没有科学性的品物，如兽部的“龙”“麒麟”和“服器部”的一些品物；精选了7000余条居家日用的常见附方，以便读者在养疗时随时选用。为了能让读者在查阅或应用时准确甄别各种品物，我们将原本的刻板线描图用写实风格进行了全彩绘制，大大强化了该译本的实用性特征。
需要特别提醒读者诸君注意的是，在遵照本书的方法进行养疗时，最好就近征询一下相关医务人员和养生专家的意见或建议，以便对症用方。
