《岭南中医外科名家黄耀燊》是对广东省名老中医、中医外科名家黄耀燊医疗经验的全面汇集。
黄耀燊教授出身中医世家，幼承庭训，立志从医，尽得家传之秘。及壮负笈于广东中医药专科学校深造，于1934年毕业，后历任广东中医院副院长，广州中医学院外科教研室主任、附属医院院长等职，与邓铁涛教授、罗元恺教授、梁乃津教授被时人并称为“广东中医四大金刚”。
黄耀燊教授从事中医医疗、教学、科研工作50余载，临床与教学经验俱丰，尤擅长外科，亦通晓内儿等科。他治学严谨，善熟读，精思，博采众长，兼收并蓄。
学术上强调内外科辨证有别，用药亦异。如疮疡，常有恶寒表证，则非外感风寒，虽用防风，荆芥、白芷等发散风寒之药，而旨在疏通经络以消肿散结，内外科均有恶寒证，虽同为表证，但内科忌用血分药，而外科除用清热解毒药外，需兼用活血凉血药，为两者之根本不同。若仅用清解，则疮疡红肿虽敛，而硬结可经久不散，此为欠用活血消瘀之药；外外药量，一般较内科重，否则难于却邪速愈，如银花、公英、地丁、生地、赤芍等，常用至30克以上。
黄耀燊对急腹症的诊治，主张辨病与辨证相结合，其内容有些已编入教科书中。黄认为舌苔最能反映六腑病变的病情、疗效和预后，并总结出：“舌苔一日未净，邪热一日未清”的规律。遇此情况，必须继续清其邪热。对肠痈后期难于消散的条索状硬结或包块，善用通络散结之法，每于清热解毒药中，选加桃仁、赤芍、山甲、皂刺，三棱、莪术等，促其消散吸收。对胆道系统感染和胆石病，黄力主茵陈、大黄、栀子，黄柏，芒硝为治黄要药，以表里双解之大柴胡汤与上述药物配伍，分型辨治。对气滞血瘀，闭而热者，以下为主，以清为辅，对热而闭者，以清为主，以下为辅。并认为胆性刚，喜疏泄，胆病无补法，而是以通为补，可或久病过服通利之药而致体虚者，责在脾胃，可间服健脾益气之剂，而仍不放弃舒肝利胆的原则。这一理论，对指导临床有十分重要的意义。
此外，黄耀燊以“肾主骨”的理论指导，创制补肾益精的骨仙片治疗骨质增生病，饮誉海内外。对其他急腹症、破伤风、毒蛇咬伤亦作了大量的临床研究，由他主持的中西医结合治疗急腹症、破伤风、毒蛇咬伤等成果，均获1978年全国科学大会奖。黄还长期参与中央、省、市各级党政负责同志的医疗保健工作，颇受称道。对一些疑难病证，如红斑狼疮、皮肤炎、硬皮病、银屑病、脱疽等，均有较好的治疗经验。

《岭南中医外科名家黄耀燊》：
2.气血凝滞在病理过程中的转化
由于病是个“动”的过程，病理过程也不断地发展和变化。这种局部气血凝滞的结果，久则郁而化热，致使血肉腐败，酝酿液化而成脓。如《黄帝内经》说：“营卫稽留于经脉之中，则血泣而不行；不行则卫气从之而不通，壅遏不得行，故热，大热不止，热胜则肉腐，肉腐则为脓。”又《外科全生集》说：“脓之来，必由气血；气血之化，必由湿也。”这说明了脓的形成，主要由于热胜血肉腐败而液化的结果，也是局部气血凝滞的进一步发展变化的病理过程。
3.气血与外科疾病的发病及其预后
外科疾病的发生与否与气血的盛衰也有密切关系。气血盛者，即使外感六淫，或内伤情志等也不一定发病；反之，则易于发病。正如《洞天奥旨》中说：“天地之六气，无岁不有，人身之七情，何时不发，乃有病有不病者，何也？盖气血旺而外邪不能感，气血衰而内正不能拒……”
此外，气血的盛衰，直接关系着整个病程的长短与外科病的起发、破溃和收口等。一般来说，气虚者难于起发、破溃，血少者难于生肌收口，如果气血充足，外疡不仅易于起发、破溃，而且也易于生肌长肉，迅速愈合。因此，气血的盛衰，对于外科病的预后和治疗都有密切的关系。
