2．无线传输媒质
无线传输是指无须架设或铺埋电缆或光缆，把数据信号转换为电磁波后直接通过空间进行传送。常见的无线传输媒质包括微波、红外线和激光等。
（1）微波通信
微波通信的载波频率为2～40GHz，频率高，可同时传送大量信息。由于微波是沿直线传播的，只能向某个固定方向传输，且受障碍物影响大，因此在微波发射器与接收器之间不应有障碍物。一般微波的收发器必须安装在建筑物的外面，最好放在建筑物顶部，但也可使用卫星转播传输。
微波通信的优点是传输频率宽、通信容量大，且灵活性好、初建成本低、见效快；其缺点是易受障碍物和天气的干扰，中继站的使用和维护需要较大的花销，且保密性差，误码率高。
微波通信系统主要分为地面系统与卫星系统两种，尽管它们使用同样的频率，又非常相似，但能力上有较大的差别。
1）地面微波。地面微波的传输原理如图1一18所示，一般采用定向抛物面天线进行微波信号的发送与接收。微波传输要求发送端与接收端之间的通路没有大障碍物或视线能及，信号频率通常为4～6GHz或21～23GHz。
