4.按加工中心机械结构特征分类
按工作台种类分，加工中心工作台有各种结构，可分为单、双和多工作台。设置多工作台的目的是缩短零件的辅助准备时间，提高生产效率和机床自动化程度。最常见的是单工作台和双工作台两种形式。

根据主轴结构特征，可分为单轴、双轴、三轴及可换主轴箱的加工中心。
二、加工中心的特点
加工中心作为一种高效多功能的数控机床，在现代生产中扮演着重要角色。它可以自动连续地完成铣、钻、扩、铰、锪、攻螺纹等多工序加工，适合于小型板类、盘类、壳体类、模具等零件的多品种小批量加工。它除了具有数控机床的共同特点外，还具有以下特点。
1.工序集中
加工中心的制造工艺与传统工艺及普通数控加工有很大不同。由于加工中心备有刀库并能自动更换刀具，对工件进行多工序加工，使得工件在一次装夹后，数控系统能控制机床按不同工序自动选择和更换刀具，自动改变机床主轴转速、进给量和刀具相对工件的运动轨迹及其他辅助机能，现代加工中心更大程度地使工件在一次装夹后实现多表面、多特征、多工位的连续、高效、高精度加工，即工序集中。这是加工中心最突出的特点。
2.强力切削
主轴电动机的运动经一对齿形带轮传到主轴，主轴转速的恒功率范围宽，低转速的转矩大，机床的主要构件刚度高，故可以进行强力切削。因为主轴箱内无齿轮传动，所以主轴运转时噪声低、振动小、热变形小。
3.对加工对象的实用性强
四轴联动、五轴联动加工中心的应用以及CAD／CAM技术的发展，使复杂零件的自动加工变得容易，加工中心生产的柔性不仅体现在对特殊要求的快速反应上，而且可以快速实现批量生产，提高了企业的市场竞争能力。
4.加工生产率高
零件加工所需要的时间包括机动时间与辅助时间两部分。加工中心带有刀库和自动换刀装置，在一台机床上能集中完成多种工序，因而可减少工件装夹、测量和机床的调整时间，减少工件半成品的周转、搬运和存放时间，使机床的切削利用率比普通机床高3～4倍，达80％以上，因此，加工中心生产率高。
5.高速定位
进给伺服电动机的运动经联轴器和滚珠丝杠副，使X轴、Y轴和z轴获得高速移动。机床基础件刚度高，使机床在高速移动时振动小，低速移动时无爬行，并且有较高的精度稳定性。
6.减轻操作者的劳动强度
加工中心对零件的加工是按事先编好的程序自动完成的，操作者除了操作键盘、装卸零件、进行关键工序的中间测量以及观察机床的运动外，不需要进行繁重的重复性手工操作，劳动强度和紧张程度均可大大减轻，劳动条件也得到很大的改善。
