寒邪、气滞、元阳虚是现代病的病根
我行医到现在有40多年了。我最开始行医的时候，常见的疾病都是一些劳损性或疼痛性疾病，而到了今天，以前很少见的高血压、糖尿病等都成了现代人的常见病。尤其是现在的青壮年人，他们的身体状况明显不如我们这一代人年轻的时候。我治过很多青壮年病人，他们不是有颈椎病、腰椎病、肩周炎等疾病，就是有头痛、失眠、健忘等亚健康表现。
无论是针、灸、按摩，还是服用中药，中医在应用前都要辨证论治，所以，我们总听说某人的感冒是表热感冒、腰痛是阳虚腰痛等等。中医的辨证方法有很多，但是阴阳、表里、寒热、虚实这八纲是最基础、我们老百姓最好理解的辨证方法。
驱、补、通、调的艾灸最适合现代人
针刺的效果比较好，但它不适合老百姓在家自己施行。一是找穴必须要准，找不准针刺的部位，治病的效果就不好，而且找错了穴位的针刺还可能会引起其他不适；二是针刺对手法要求高，不练上一段时间，就算你拿了针灸针、找对了穴位，一样扎不进去。
艾灸灸的是穴位及周围的一个区域，不是穴位这一个点，这样就避免了找穴不准的困难，只要大致定位在穴位附近就可以了。而且艾灸好施行，艾灸说白了就是烤，只要拿着艾条在穴位附近烤，你就是在进行艾灸了。当然，艾灸除了适合老百姓实施之外，还是现代人三大病根的克星。
灸后出现的各种反应
艾灸是利用人体的本能来对抗病邪，鼓动体内的正气与病邪之气交战，把邪气赶出去。但有些人在实施艾灸的过程中却会出现一些问题，比如有的肝病患者在治疗中出现失眠、情绪起伏、爱生气等反应；有的风湿患者艾灸后全身发冷，又打喷嚏又流鼻涕的，好像是得了感冒。其实，这些现象都是病邪从人体内被排出来的表现。
艾灸的疗效十分神奇，艾灸疗法的适用范围很广泛。在中国古代，艾灸就是治疗疾病的重要手段，它有温阳补气、温经通络、消瘀散结、补中益气的作用，广泛地应用于内科、外科、妇科、儿科、五官科疾病。
此外，艾灸还具有奇特的养生保健作用，用灸法预防疾病、延年益寿，在我国已有数千年的历史。《庄子》中记载圣人孔子“无病而自灸”，用艾灸进行养生保健。肿瘤专家做过艾灸防癌研究，明确指出艾灸能使皮肤的抗癌作用得到活化。
前面讲过艾灸有治病、寻病、养生三效合一的特点，但在艾灸治病的过程中，有很多人反映，本来没病好好的，没想到却灸出别的病来了；或者本来是这儿的病，可艾灸后，那儿又出毛病了。这艾灸到底是好，还是不好呢？
通过我前面讲的，大家已经知道了艾灸对寒邪、气滞和元阳虚引起的疾病有很好的治疗效果。那么，既然能治病，就是个好疗法啊，为什么还会引起其他的疾病呢？是不是我们的用法不当？当然不是，我们的方法都很正确。大家都忘了一个重要的中医理论——人是一个统一的整体，穴位是纵行人体之上经络的点，刺激任何一个部位都可以引起人体全身的反应，刺激穴位也能引起本经络的反应，本条经络上的其他脏腑有病变，正气就会与该脏腑的病邪抗争，疾病就表现出来了。其实原本就有病变，只是其还在潜伏着，继续艾灸，该脏腑的疾病也就治愈了。这其实就是经络“排病”作用的表现。
