瑜伽，从远古的印度而来，带着神秘的能量和生命哲学，传承至今，风行世界。
瑜伽的起源
瑜伽起源于五千多年前的古印度，它有着许多让人无法探知到的秘密。它是古印度六大哲学派别之一，是最古老的能量知识修炼之法，是既神秘又科学的灵魂修行之术。它集哲学、宗教、艺术、科学于一身，在修行中通向心思的沉静、灵魂的净化、性灵的升华。而正是这样近乎神奇的意义，让我们无法窥探到最原始、最真实的瑜伽之源。
于是，当代哲学研究者与瑜伽学者根据传说与考证，想象并推演出了瑜伽的萌生过程：
在喜马拉雅山的一侧，有一座高达8000米的圣母山，那里生活着一群隐修者，他们通过静坐苦修的方式修炼成了圣人。因此，不少人开始羡慕和追随他们。这些圣人以口诀的方式将修炼的秘法传授给了追随者，这些追随者就是最初的瑜伽行者。
初期的瑜伽行者都是苦修者，常年在冰雪覆盖的喜马拉雅山脚下向大自然挑战。要想健康地活下去，就必须面对“疾病”、“死亡”、“肉体”、“灵魂”，以及人与宇宙的关系。于是，他们开始观察生存环境，包括动物、植物等，看它们如何适应自然的生活，如何有效的呼吸、摄取食物、排泄、休息、睡眠，以及克服疾病，等等。根据这些观察，瑜伽行者结合人类身体的结构，逐步去感受身体内部的微妙变化，并开始探索人的身体，从而懂得了和自己的身体对话，并进行健康维护和调理，以及对疾病、疼痛的医治。这就是瑜伽体位法产生的渊源。
同时瑜伽行者们还解析出精神如何影响身体健康，探索出控制心理的手段，追求身体、心灵和自然的和谐统一，从而挖掘人体潜能、智慧和灵性，这便是瑜伽静坐冥想法的缘起。
在对瑜伽有了新的认识和发展时，起初仅仅局限在喜马拉雅山的洞穴和茂密的森林中修持的瑜伽行者们，开始逐渐地走进寺院、乡间小舍……瑜伽修行也随之在民间流传开来。
在印度最原始的传说中，湿婆神（印度教三大主神之一）是瑜伽的创造者。他将创造的所有体式教给了自己的妻子雪山神女。在哈拉浦和莫汉朱特罗（现今在巴基斯坦境内）考古出土的文物中，就曾发现了许多雕刻着湿婆神与雪山女神不同瑜伽体式的雕像。
