我是臺中師院社會科教育學系本科系公費生畢業的，學生時代我學社會，教育實習的時候我教社會，初任教教師我教社會，在臺中市惠文國小擔任社會專任社會教師十三年，直到從教育界退休我還是在教社會，江湖所謂「十年磨一劍」，但我這一劍，足足磨了二十七年，我拿教社會來定義自己。

你拿什麼來定義自己？英國著名經濟學者察爾斯韓第這樣問著自己。

每個教學者都需要這樣問著自己，在教學上我們用什麼來定義自己？

任何珍珠都是從一粒沙子開始磨難起，教學能力的培養，也好比是珍珠的養成。我的教學生涯中走過很多磨難的路，我想我提供這些歷程，可以讓教學者減少很多摸索的過程，從一顆珍珠，串聯成一件珍珠彩衣。

從現在需要的人來談起吧！

美國趨勢觀察家平克的著作：「未來在等待的人才」提出，

「理念與創意超越知識。」「知識力逐漸示微，創造力興起。」

「創意整合同理心取勝的理念時代。」

「分析邏輯知識時代慢慢從世界舞臺退場。」

所以教學上不能背多分了，學生不需要重覆上一代的學習過程！

在教學現場中來看，臺灣社會領域的教學實務上，國小因為包班制度下，社會領域課程往往由級任擔任，長期以來著重在認知型的教學，亦即讓學生背起來就好，評量命題也以記憶型居多。這些存在已久的教學方法，往往被視為理所當然，但實際上不能符應現今社會需要創新及理解能力的時代需求，它們的價值日漸喪失，甚至反過來減損現有的價值。

如果您的教學是：「無論教師您的講解是如何深入詳盡，學生在學習過程上，主要都是憑著記憶能力，把堂上所教的一切生記硬背下來，這是短期記憶。這種憑記憶得來的知識，很容易便會隨記憶的淡忘而失去，就如鮮魚存放一段時間後，變壞腐爛一樣。」課程教學應著重在培養推論理解的人才。

啟發需要配合課程而來的教學策略！

學校扼殺了創意嗎？我的一堂社會課一書，就在於將筆者的創意教學策略提出分享，對教師而言這是教學策略，對學生而言這是學習策略，將教學的短期記憶透過這些教學策略轉化成為長期記憶，成為帶得走的能力。

創意教學策略的背景與動機

想到老師：天下雜誌報導：「公校的困境，首先來自於教學本身的僵化，導致學生學習興趣的退化。」

管理學大師彼得．杜拉克在他所著的《不連續的時代》認為當代學校教育缺乏新教學與新學習，使得「現在的學童被學校變得像無趣的傻子。學童無法經由佔據學校，或在校舍設置障礙以示反抗。不過，他們握有一項強有力的武器：停止學習。」

當學生停止學習時，學校教育開始出現『教室崩壞』（classroom collapse）。」為什麼有些老師，在激烈的競爭中(以前的師專考試、公費生考試、教師甄試)脫穎而出，當上老師後，成就並沒有超越平均水準？關鍵差別在哪裡？讓教師失去了「自我學習的能力與習慣」？

想到學生：當「以學生為主體」回歸到「教學」上做為思考……

站在講堂上並以學習者的立場來思考教學策略。
　　
這個世界在變，但是表面上教育改革喊得滿天響，實質的教學內涵卻是數十年如一日，在社會課程的教學上，長久以來大都以講述法為主，導致而來的結果，則是老師「背起來」這樣以記憶為主的教學，學生或許能短時間背起來，但往往在課程結束後，將有關社會課程忘光光，主因在於教師的教學法沒有生動有趣的引起學生學習動機，教學過程以及重視的評量分數也是以短期效果來看待。以致於學生們花費歲月在過時的教學方法中，學一些永遠用不著的課程，這是筆者再三提倡社會領域創意教學策略的原因。

現在社會課程的教學，需要有實際操作的學習經驗，學習過程需要讓孩子自己的「我」，有機會來和生活、教材、親師生或和自己進行的「對話」。設計動機在讓學生在社會課程的學習，透過實際的操作，從短期記憶變成長期記憶，讓學生自己能夠和教材、自己進行「對話」。
