《优化建模与LINDO\LINGO软件》：
2.识别优化模型的类型
对等式约束的直接处理完成后，直接求解程序将对输入的模型进行分析，自动识别模型的数学结构和性质，确定优化模型的类型，从而决定下一步采用什么求解程序。如果模型是（连续）线性规划，下一步将直接调用线性优化求解程序；如果模型是（连续）非线性规划，下一步将直接调用非线性优化求解程序；如果模型是整数规划，则下一步将直接调用整数规划求解程序，主要是通过调用分支定界管理程序进行求解。分支定界管理程序主要用于管理整数规划问题的分支定界算法，在运行中还要不断调用线性优化求解程序和非线性优化求解程序进行定界处理。整数规划求解程序本身通常还有一个预处理程序，主要是为了对整数线性规划模型生成有效的割平面（有效的割平面可以显著地减少求解整数规划所需要的计算时间）。
线性优化求解程序通常使用单纯形算法，为了能解大规模问题，也提供了内点算法（LINGO中一般称为障碍法，即barrier）以备选用，非线性优化求解程序采用的是顺序线性规划法（sequential linear programming，SLP），即通过迭代求解一系列线性规划来逼近、达到求解非线性规划的目的，非线性优化求解程序也可以使用其化算法，如顺序二次规划法（sequential quadratic programming，SQP），广义既约梯度法（generalized reduced gradient，GRG），并可以让软件自动选择多个初始点开始进行多次求解（LINGO中称为multistart），以便通过找到多个局部最优解增加找到全局最优解的可能性。
